My vision was white til I saw color and became aware of my surroundings. There was light coming in through the windows and all I saw was candles half melted and wicks coal black.
"Morning sleepy head." James said smirking while carrying the last of the bags.
"Morning." I said with a yawn.
"Is there any coffee?"
"No, but we will get some on the road. Come on."
James was signaling me towards the door so we could leave.
"Why do we have to leave right now." I asked with a mood entailing I am not a morning person.
"Because we are going to be late now come on!" James was now dragging me across the floor trying to get me to the door.
"Just leave me here to die! Please!!"
"I can't. You're the guest of honor."
James let go of my arms and let me drop. I just laid their in a schlump and let out a cry of defeat.
"FINE."
"Good. Now that we have wasted ten minutes. Let's get in the car.
Finally, after sluggish walking with slumped shoulders I made it to the car and we started driving. What seemed like maybe an hour of driving of driving was actually a few hours later we arrived at our destination.
"Why are we pulling back into my place..." I was so confused. I was expecting grandeur like maybe camping on the beach or something...
"Because. It's time you start appreciating what you already have." James said sternly while parking in the grass.
"I do appreciate what I have." I said crossing my arms.
"No. You don't." James said calmly. "You don't realize how your actions affect those that love you. You are so caught up in your own world you forget the reason why you are still walking."
"Excuse Me!" I retorted. "You did not just go there."
"Yes, I did. And I am not done." James took a deep breath and... "You don't realize who has your back and who doesn't. I'm really sorry for what you've been through. I get it. You have been through so much, but it's time to start smelling the roses. You need to pack up all these negative emotions and put them to rest. It's obviously inhibiting how you live and it's putting the ones that love you through so much pain. Pick up your head and get over yourself. You're stronger than you think."
At first, I felt anger and I wanted to just get out of the car. But what he was saying was true. I was stuck in this world of bitterness and it shown.
"I understand what you're saying James. Thank you." I was numb and I didn't want to cry. So I just got out of the car and made it into the house.
I could hear James following me and when I was heading towards my room I smelled something coming from the kitchen. But it wasn't unusual for cooking... it's just...
"WELCOME HOME!!"
Jumping out of my skin I saw everybody in the living room.
What is going on...
