Ch 5

Around 3 am,

Alex woke up from a dream

Alex: "not again"

she digs her face into her hands. Alex has dreams sometimes of when she was little. She remembers seeing her father and mom yelling at each other and her father trying to hurt her. Alex gets up and goes to the kitchen for a glass of water. As she turn the corner into the hallway she sees carol sitting at the counter

Carol: "can't sleep either"

Alex shakes her head

Carol: "want some tea? I made some extra"

Alex: "sure"

Carol pours some tea for alex

Alex: "thanks carol"

Carol: "What happened? Why can't you sleep?"

Alex: "some past memories of when i was really really little. I didn't have the best childhood"

She sighs

Carol: "I know we barely met a couple hours ago but if you ever need to talk you can talk to me. I understand. I had a bad past a couple years back."

Alex: "thanks for the tea carol. I'm going to head back to my room"

Carol: "good night alex"

The next morning

Carol; "good morning"

Alex: "good morning carol... where is everyone?"

Carol: "They had a mission. I stayed here so you wouldn't be alone"

Alex: "thanks"

Carol: "Do you want some breakfast? I was going to make some eggs and sausage"

Alex: "sure"

20 minutes later

Alex: "thanks for the breakfast carol"

Carol: "no problem. Do you want to do something today?"

Alex: "sure since I have the day off. like what?"

Carol: "I'm not sure. Like go on a walk or something. It's a lovely day outside"

Alex: "sure that sounds good"

They walk over to a park near the compound

Carol: "so i was thinking that we could watch a movie a little later"

Alex: "yeah that sounds good. What movie do you want to watch"

Carol: " no idea" 

As they are walking in the park alex stops

Carol: "alex whats wrong?"

Alex: "can we-we have to go!"

Carol: "what why?"

Alex grabs carol's arm

Alex: "please carol can we need to go now!"

Carol: "hey hey hey calm down. alex whats wrong?"

A woman spots alex and walks over

Alex: "no no no no"

???: "well well well look who it is"

Alex hides behind carol

Alex: "l-leave me alone maddie"

Maddie: "why is the little one scared?"

she laughs

Carol: "who is she?"

Alex: "m-my ex"

Maddie: "awww is the little one going to cry"

Carol: "why don't you back the hell away"

Maddie: "So now you have another person to protect you. You're still pathetic as you were two years ago"

Alex: "l-leave me alone maddie...please"

Maddie: "why is someone going to cry"

Alex squeezes carol's arm tightly. Carol can hear the fear in alex's voice

Carol: "look you have 10 seconds the back the f*ck up and leave us alone"

Maddie: "What are you going to do about it? You're just some girl who thinks she's full of herself"

Carol's fists start to glow as well as her eyes

Carol: "10 seconds to back away like i said"

Alex: "carol carol carol no don't. Don't hurt her you are going to make things worse"

Carol calms down

Maddie: "so you have an avenger now to be your bodyguard"

Carol: "leave her alone"

Maddie: "wow you can't protect yourself. No wonder you were so easy to hurt emotionally and physically

She laughs

Alex starts to cry.  Carol wraps alex's arms around her waist

Carol: "hold on tight okay"

Alex: "what why?"

Carol: "trust me"

She flies them both back to the compound

Alex: "oh god... don't do that again please"

Carol: "sorry about that"

Alex: "i'm going to go to my room"

carol:  "don't you  want to talk about what happened...Alex"

Alex:"n-not really" 

She walks up to her room and shuts the door. 

Carol goes up to alex's room and leans against the door

Carol: "alex... i'm here if you want to talk"

Alex: "I don't want to talk about it...."

Carol: "okay i'll leave you alone"
