Ch 45

An hour later

Carol: "what did she say?"

Alex: "the other 2 employees she trusts are going to be out on Friday. You"

Carol: "they both are going on week-long missions and are leaving tomorrow so they won't be back in time"

They sit on the bed and Alex lays against carol

Carol: "we are bad moms aren't  we"

Alex: "yes we are"

The following morning

Carol: "Lizzie you ready?"

Lizzie: "yes I am mom"

They arrive at Lizzie's school and are in the car

Lizzie: "So who is going to go on Friday with me?"

Carol: "about that Lizzie"

Lizzie: "mom?"

Carol: "your mom and I can't. I have a mission and she has a very important meeting. We are sorry Lizzie"

Lizzie: "it's okay mom"

She gets out of the car and shuts the door

Carol hits her head on the steering wheel

Carol: "fuck. We hurt her feelings"

With Alex

Alex: "ms potts your 2:30 meeting is about to start"

Pepper: "i forgot, thank you so much Alex"

Alex: "no problem ms potts. I'll finish putting these files away than the two reports"

Pepper: "thank you Alex"

She walks out of the room. As Alex is putting the flies away her phone starts to ring

She picks up

Alex: "hello"

Carol: "hey love"

Alex: "hey babe. How did Lizzie react?"

Carol: "not well. She's really upset"

Alex: "god I knew it would turn out like this"

Carol: "we need to make this up to her"

Alex: "yeah we do"

2 days later it's now Friday

Teacher: "so Lizzie is your mom coming?"

Lizzie: "no... she was busy"

Teacher: "okay then will James-"

Lizzie digs her face into her arms staring down at the desk

There was a knock at the door

The teacher walks over and opens the door

Alex: "sorry I'm late the meeting i had with my boss and some of her clients ran a little longer than expected"

Teacher: "it's no problem ms"

Alex: "Hill"

When lizzie heard alex's voice she perked up

Lizzie: "mom"

She gets up and runs over to Alex

Alex: "hey Lizzie. I'm sorry I was late"

Teacher: "well Lizzie, since your mom is here would you like to introduce her to the class"

Lizzie: "sure. This is my mom Alex. She works at stark industries with ms potts and is one of the best workers there"

Teacher: "well then since all the m-"

There is another knock at the door

Teacher: "let me just gert the door"

The teacher opens the door and Carol walks in

Carol: "I'm sorry about being late i had to deal with a bunch of stuff at work"

Lizzie: "mom"

She hugs carol

Lizzie: "I thought you and mom weren't going to make it?"

Carol: "well we wouldn't miss any of your events"

Lizzie smiles
