A few months later

Carol walks into the kitchen

Carol: "Good morning love. What are you doing up so early?"

Alex: "Honestly, no clue. Anyways I'm going for a run then I have to go to my therapy session"

Carol: "need me to drop you off?"

Alex: "if you can that would be nice"

Carol: "I don't have to go to work today so I can"

3 hours later

Carol: "text me when you're done. I'll come pick you up"

Alex: "Okay, thank you, babe"

Carol: "love you"

Alex: "love you too"

Alex walks into the building

Dr. Raynor: "I must say Alex I am very impressed with how much you have improved these past couple of months"

Alex: "I can't believe that I got this far as well"

Dr. Raynor: "well now you can be taken off your medication. We will still have these sessions but once every two weeks. If you feel like you need to come in just call"

Alex: "thank you so much dr Raynor I really appreciate it"

She walks out of the building and gets into carol's car

Carol: "so how did it go?"

Alex: "it went well"

Carol: "We have to pick up Lizzie from her friend's house and then we can head out to your mom's house"

Alex: "i swear if we walk in and see her making out with another woman again I'm never visiting her at her house again"

Carol: "you still remember that?"

Alex: "that memory is burned into my brain babe"

They both laugh

They pick up Lizzie and drive to maria's house

Alex: "what's with all the cars?"

Carol: "maybe someone is having a party down the street"

Alex: "maybe. So how was school today Lizzie?"

Lizzie: "it went well"

They continue to talk

Carol: "And we are here"

They all get out of the car and walk to the front door

Alex knocks on the door

No answer

Alex takes out the spare key maria had given her and starts to unlock the door

Alex: "I swear to god if I open this door and see something else that will be burned into my mind, I'm going to lose it"

Carol laughs and Alex opens the door

Inside everything was dark

Alex: "weird why is it so d-"

The lights switch on and people yell surprise

Carol: "surprise love, happy birthday"

Standing in the living room was all of Alex's close friends and some family

Alex: "oh my gosh"

Lizzie: "happy birthday mom"

Alex: "you guys did this all for me?"

Nat: "of course, why wouldn't we Alex, you deserve a great birthday"

Alex: "thank you all"

She spends time with her family and friends for a while

Carol: "love can we go outside, I want to give you something"

She and Alex walk out to the backyard

Carol: "having a good time"

Alex: "yes I am. Thank you for planning all this"

Carol: "it's no problem love. I have something special for you"

She pulls out a small box from the pocket of her jean jacket

Carol: "happy birthday"

She hands the box to Alex

Alex opens the box, inside was a gold pendant

Carol: "open it up"

Alex carefully opens the pendant

Inside was a photo of Alex carol and Lizzie. It was taken on a vacation in Peru, one of Alex's favorite vacations they took together

Alex: "babe, this is beautiful, thank you"

She kisses carol

Carol: "you're welcome love"

Alex: "thank you...so much for everything"

Carol: "hmm?"

Alex: "Since we first met, you turned my life right back up. I was struggling so much with everything going on in my life but you changed that"

Carol smiles and Alex kisses her

Alex: "I love you, babe. Thank you for everything"

Carol: "I love you too. You changed my life as well"
