Spencer had arrived home from practice and decided to go through the back of the house instead of the front to get inside. He had texted Liv to check in on her but to no avail, there was no answer. Making his way to the back, he saw the entrance to the pool was wide open. He peaked in closer and spotted Liv taking a swim. Her skin glowed under the light of the water beautifully, though she didn't have to try hard, because her natural beauty was always there. He pushed the door open as she had her back turned, squeezing the water out of her flipping it to the side. She felt eyes on her and smiled before turning around when she heard the familiar tone.

"Hey you"

"Hey there yourself" She swam over to the edge where he was standing, folding her arms over the side.

"Don't worry, I already checked the bushes for hitmen" He chuckled to himself bending down resting his arms on his knees.

"Hey nothing wrong with being vigilant, they could be anywhere, even in the pool" He whispered jokingly making her laugh.

"Oooou your so right, which is why you need to come up in here and check" He stood to his feet waving her off.

"Nah I'm cool"

"Come onnnn, the water's warm!" She sang splashing him a little.

"You know black people can't swim"

"Noooo actually, you can't swim, but I was a lifeguard during the summer of my sophomore year, and I would be more than happy to show you a few things" A smirk spread across her lips.

"Show me a few things huh?" His eyebrows furrowed and his nose scrunched crossing his arms.

"You heard me, James" She rolled her tongue unconsciously biting her lip at him.

"Mm.... aight bet" He took off his jacket, then unbuckled his pants, throwing his shirt over his head, before hugging his knees jumping into the water. Liv felt the coolness of the air as the water stroked her body from all sides. Spencer emerged from the water almost slipping down under as he tried to keep himself afloat.

"I see you wasn't gonna save me!" He splashed her playfully as she splashed him back before she laid on her back spreading out her arms.

"You don't need saving, just float on your back and look up at the stars"

"That would be a great alternative Liv but you're missing one thing, guys don't float" She dipped herself back into the water before coming up quickly with a stunned look on her face.

"WHAT?!"

"Guys don't float" He formed waves in the water with his arms as Liv stood in the water amused.

"Guys don't float, okay come here," She got a little closer sliding her hands around his back.

"Girl what are you doing?"

"Watch, just put your feet up and lay your head back" He did as he was told.

"Close your eyes," He squinted one eye at her.

"Both of your eyes sir" They shared a laugh before she got serious again as he finally closed both of his eyes.

"Kay good, now just relax, okay, on three I'm gonna let go, one.... two.... three" She let him go and he sank under the water, and she started giggling before he came back up for air shaking the water off his head, wiping his face.

"I told you...guys don't float"

"& like I said, you don't float" They burst into laughter before the silence filled the space again as they swam around each other killing the slight awkwardness of the moment.

"What's got you out here so late Liv?" She shrugged her shoulders creating waves in the water with her arms.

"Just a lot going on right now..."

"Like what?"

"Asher kinda...broke up with me...last night...." She dunk herself into the water before Spencer could get a word in.

"Liv I am so sorry I had no idea tha- "She cut him off mid-sentence.

"Don't be Spence, honestly, it's okay, it's been coming for a while, and it was only a matter of time before one of us did it, though I'm kinda happy he beat me to it, saves me the trouble from having to do it myself"

"Are you okay?"

"Surprisingly, yes, it was...inevitable" She spoke with a sigh of relief.

"I get it, kinda how I felt when Layla and I broke up..." Their eyes met under the night as both of their breathing slowed.

"Yeah...I guess, somebody can be right in every way, except for the one that matters" His thoughts raced as his eyes dropped to her lips and her attention focused on how his pecs and muscles glistened in the water. He cleared his throat shaking those intrusive thoughts out of his head.

"Thanks for the swimming lesson"

"No prob" She smiled up at him as he made his way out of the pool, her not too far behind him. He grabbed one of the towels wrapping it around her back and shoulders. She held his hand on her shoulder, him giving it a squeeze before leaning forward to kiss her right cheek. Her eyes closed as her muscles relaxed by the softness of his touch on her. He kissed her left cheek repeatedly until she laughed, and he hugged her from behind before letting go.

"Night Livvie"

"Night Spence" She watched him walk away drying herself off with the towel smiling to herself and her cheeks flushed from all the blushing she had been doing. I think I love you.
