Spencer wasn't in the greatest mood, after the turmoil that came from the cabin weekend, his breakup with Layla, and the final straw in his friendship with Coop. He offered to help Kia clean the café after homecoming nominee speeches before heading home.
"Slow poke hurry your butt please, I promised I'd have everything cleaned up and put away by 10"
"Don't rush me woman I'm going as fast as I can"
"If that's your definition of fast, then I feel sorry for the next girl who gets to sleep with you" Kia teased him as he flipped her off with his mouth laughing as he pushed another chair up before flipping it upside down on the table. The mere sound of the front door opening stopped them both in their tracks. Spencer slowly looked up seeing the last person he wasn't expecting to show up on his side of town. Olivia. She slowly made her way to him, half a smile cracking through her expression while Spencer just stood with a blank stare.
"Hey" She finally voiced after a long pause of silence.
"Hey"
Another moment of silence came between the two slightly distant best-friends as Kia's eyes looked between the two of them
"Hey Liv"
"Hey Kia" Liv says not taking her eyes off Spencer not even for a second.
"Ooookay, you know what? I'm just gonna go do umm.... whatever in the back so" Kia interjects gathering her things and making her exit through the back while Spencer and Liv continued to stare each other down.
"I wasn't expecting to see you today"
"Yeah....I know and I'm sorry for how distant I've been lately, I just...had an lot to think about, but my minds clear now, and I was hoping to talk to you about an few things"
"You always can talk to me Liv, no matter what" A flat sigh of relief released from her lips.
"I know. Need a ride home?"
"That depends, are you offering?"
"I'm only offering it if you accept" A smirk expanded across her lips as he chuckled a little tilting his head down.
"I accept your offer then Olivia Baker" His voice grew deep dragging her name, as she felt a little turned on by it.
"Alright big head let's go" They laughed together walking out the door to her car. About ten minutes into the ride, the car was quiet until Olivia mustered up the courage to intercept the silence.
"So, I was thinking...you know how were always telling people that were not, together, and.... that there's nothing there between us?" Spencer turned his head to her.
"Yeah, why?" A loud sigh came as she kept her eyes on the road and turned the wheel making a left turn.
"What would you say if I told you that.... there was something there?" Spencer looked down to his feet smiling to himself a little but tried to hide it at the same time.
"I don't know how to answer that. Olivia, I told you how I felt in Vegas, you kissed me, I told you I was in love with you, and then you left me standing there. I don't know if it was because you don't feel the same or...you scared...maybe, I don't know I- "She cut him off placing her hand on his leg.
"It wasn't because I don't feel the same. There was just so much, going on at the time and I didn't really know how to process what you had told me. But that was then, and this is now. I may have been scared before but I'm not anymore. I knew I wanted to be with you the minute our eyes locked at Beverly, and even when you were with Layla, my feelings never wavered, they just grew deeper and deeper, especially when I thought I would lose you to that shooting, but you saved my life that night, and I think I will always be indebted to you for that. Honestly Spence, I've probably felt this way about you for a long time, but I was just too scared to admit it and I feared that it would ruin our friendship because aside from everything else, you really are my best friend. There may be people out here that may not see us being together as the most popular choice, but I don't want to worry about that. Right here, right now, I just want to worry about us. You and me, like it always should've been" Spencer looked at her with tears covering his eyes growing more emotional by the moment. Olivia breathed in deeply, tapping her nails on the wheel as they sat at a red light before turning her head to look at him.
"I love you too Spencer" Spencer's lips curved to the side as he tearfully smiled and nodded his head before taking one hand from the wheel to intertwine it with his fingers. She felt a shiver down her spine just by the warmth and simpleness of his touch. He brushed his thumb over the top of their joined hands.
"Why the hell are you still driving? Pull this car over girl, I've waited too long for this, I ain't waiting anymore" She giggled to herself as the light turned green pulling over to the side, setting the car in park. Olivia and Spencer both unbuckled their seatbelts and Spencer lifted his fingers to her face, lightly brushing her cheek with the tips and removing a strand of hair from her face that was blocking one eye. She smiled down as he took her face in his hands. "What took you so long?" "Just waiting for the right moment, but I'm here now, and I'm not going anywhere" They smiled to each other before leaning in sharing a very long overdue, passionate kiss under the darkness of the night.
