A/N: My inspiration for this one shot comes from my boo, @EvieEveWrites and commemorating Spelivia's one year anniversary of being official. Enjoy!
The California sun shone through the curtains of Olivia's boyfriend's room as the sweet aromas of homemade cinnamon waffles and bacon being made downstairs woke her from her slumber. Her curls sat atop of her head as it lifted. Her palm pressed against the soft sheets, running her fingers across the empty spot by her where her boyfriend usually would be. She fisted the sheets pulling herself all the way up, resting her back to the headboard. She reached up, freeing her tangled curls from the tie in her hair, shaking them til they rested on her shoulders. Seconds later, her alarm went off and she reached over the bed to grab the device, her eyes falling upon the alert that read: Wake up beautiful!, and her lock screen of her and Spencer with their pinkies linked and lips locked with Olivia smiling into it. An smile appeared then left as she looked at the picture, seeing how happy they were when the photo was taken, then her mind drifting to the conclusion of last night's conversation.
The night before
"We used to be here, but were not and I'm starting to wonder, where we are....headed...." Olivia states waving her fingers between her estranged boyfriend and herself.
"It's just an adjustment babe, you're overthinking this right now" He reached for her hand and she quietly rejected him, standing up from the sofa.
"No Spencer, this is more than an adjustment or an moment of me overthinking, this is an gut feeling. We don't talk like we used to, date nights are an ritual thats practically nonexistent at this point between school, my work at the Tribune and your never ending practices and when we are here, we just lay next to each other in silence until we pass out. Don't you see? Something's wrong, Spencer, horribly wrong" Olivia relented as the tears pooled in her eyes watching him stand up matching her stance.
"It's only been like this for an week or two, we still have time"
"You're not hearing me. This has been going on for weeks now, and honestly, I've been feeling like this for an little longer than that" His head jerked back at her revelation.
"You've been feeling this way and your just now saying something to me about it? Wh-why not tell me sooner?" Spencer was astonished as he posed the question. Their communication may not have been the best lately but he trusted her to tell him the truth, even if would hurt to hear it.
"I...I don't know why I didn't say anything sooner...."
"Well maybe that's the problem then Liv. Were supposed to be an team and this doesn't work if we can't talk to each other. I have always left space for you to be able to come to me about anything. I always have your back, no matter what, don't you see that?"
"It's not about you having my back, Spence. I know you have my back, and you love me without question, but it's more then that. There's just been, an luring amount of distance between us and it seems like it's growing even more and I think it's worth an conversatio-" He cut her off.
"Oh now it's worth an conversation? Weeks later it's worth an conversatio-" She interrupted him as he went off on her sarcastically.
"Yes Spencer! Weeks later it's worth an conversation!" Her voice slightly raised as he scoffed off in the distance, placing his hands to his waist, his teeth clenching.
"Well, I don't think anything will get resolved tonight so let's just take an beat"
"We can't run from this Spenc-" Olivia pressed, walking behind him as he moved around the room.
