Vampire Sister

Chapter 1

"Seriously. Snap out of it Katie!", I exclaimed. Without bothering to look up, she said, "Uh what?" I waved my hand in front of her face and then, she looked up from her phone.

"You came home after 2 years and you wouldn't bother to talk to me? After all, you're staying just for a week!" I snapped. With a lousy smile she replied, "Okay, what do you want to talk about?"

"Anything."

"Fine, you tell me, what's your favourite music band?"

"Isn't that obvious? It's One Direction everybody!!", I said as I stood and threw my hands up in the air.

"Really? I didn't think you'd be into that stuff."

I shot her a confused look and asked, "So, what are you into?"

"Well I don't know why, but I am obsessed with 'Bad Guy' by Billie Eilish, right now."

"Duh," I said and we burst out laughing. God, I really missed these conversations. My beloved big sis is doing a medical course in London. It was a 4 yr course but she volunteered to take up another 2 yr course that makes her assist actual doctors for experience. I was first mad at her for choosing to stay away from us for a longer time. But then it struck me that we just will have a better and experienced doctor in our clasps.

"Kyra, I. Am. Starving.", she said.

"Fine, c'mon"

Just as we started to head downstairs, her phone rang and she said," I have to get that, hold on."

"I'll wait for you down." Just as I finished the sentence, my phone rang too. Adam Carter, one of my best friends, popped up on the screen. "Hi, Kyra! A delivery was cancelled and 5 pizzas left, want some?" Yes and he was a pizza delivery guy which meant free pizza now and then. I grinned and replied, "I would love to reject it, but I just don't want to waste pizza!"

"I'll be there in five! Bye."

"Bye"

Dinner was a blast. Of course it was free pizzas that made it special.

When I headed upstairs I heard Katie talking to someone on the phone.

"I know. And, I'm running low on my supplies. I won't. No. Ok talk to you later bye."

"Who were you talking to?" I asked out of curiosity.

She startled and asked, "Were you eavesdropping?"

"No,"

"Fine, it was Jake, my neighbour. He is kinda my only friend there."

"Is he your boyfriend?"

"Noooooooooo. Just a friend.", she said, smiling sheepishly.

"Okay, and what supplies are running out?"

She looked bewildered for a moment, and then said, " Oh, that. Just some supplies I need for assisting the doctors."

Something was off. I could sense it, considering I was going to take up criminal justice and become a detective.

"You know what sis, I am taking up criminal justice."

"Really, that's awesome!!" I could tell she was changing the subject but I couldn't help but tell Katie all about it.

When I asked her if I could sleep with her, she denied my requests with a simple reason,

"I have developed a habit of throwing my leg over."

I scoffed.

"What? It's not funny. I could hurt you."

"Fine." I gave up.

Just as I sprawled up on the bed, my phone chimed.

Carla: Hey Kyra! Just a reminder that we have basketball practice tomorrow at 4.

Kyra: Almost forgot. Thanks!

Carla: Ughh, you know you're never supposed to thank me!!! What are best friends for? Anyways, how are things with your sister's homecoming?

Kyra: All good. See ya tomorrow?

Carla: Ya sure gn.

Kyra: gn

And I forgot to mention Carla Thompson, another and the last of the best friend trio. The Thompsons live a few streets away.
