Chapter 4

Was it my imagination? No. It was definitely a dream. The whole of yesterday was a dream. I have never witnessed something as terrifying as Katie's face yesterday. I doubt I'll ever see something like that again. Stop it Kyra.. It.Was.A.Dream. Period.

Hoping everything will be normal, I climbed out of bed and ventured into the kitchen avoiding or trying to avoid Katie for some reason. But I had to meet her. Not meeting her eyes, I said,"Good morning." and left the kitchen.

I knew something was off from the beginning, but that face? That didn't make sense at all. Nope. Nothing. But whatever it is, I will not give up on finding it.

(Spoiler alert!!!!!!! If you are watching The Vampire Diaries or planning on watching it later, skip the first paragraph. But here's what you need to know, Kyra spends the next two days cuddled up in her room, binge watching netflix. Carla suggests that she continues watching TVD as she has already finished 3 seasons.)

I spent the last two days avoiding Katie, cuddled up in my room. I binge watched netflix. Carla suggested that I continue watching TVD (the Vampire Diaries) and I did. I already finished 3 seasons a while back. Damon is such a jerk that can't put up with the good relationship that his brother has. Oops.. I take that back. I am in the last season now. Yep I spent all day and night in my room watching TVD. Damon is such a sweetheart who understands Elena and does what's good for her. And I almost had a heart attack when Damon died, at least for sometime. But I spent the last night before school crying over poor Stefan's death.

That's when I heard some footsteps approaching my room.

As Katie pushed the door open, my heart skipped a beat. I closed my laptop and stood up to leave the room. But she stopped me from doing that. My heart started to skip several beats.

She said in a low and soft voice,"I'm sorry about the other day. You don't need to say anything."

Thank god.. I had literally nothing to say. Taking my silence as an approval, she continued,"But, you aren't supposed to remember that. This won't hurt, I promise."

Just as I opened my mouth to argue otherwise, she gently touched my shoulders. That made me look her in the eyes. They were normal now. I could see her eyeball shrink and relax. Then she said,"Whatever you saw, the other night on my face, you don't remember that. Is that clear?"

Whatever method she was using apparently did not work on me as I could still remember that moment clearly. But I had to play along. I replied,"Yes, it is clear."

"Good, now wear this chain all throughout your life, never remove it. Even while you bathe. Did you get that?" said Katie as she tied a pretty little necklace around my neck.

Had to play along. "Yes." I forced myself to reply. I blinked and she was gone.

This looked like compulsion to me. Ugh, too much netflix has totally damaged my thinking. That's when criminal justice popped up in my mind. Oh shit! First day of school tomorrow!! I am thrilled. I am going to forget what happened, for now and pack for school.

What am I going to wear? This was the first question that I had the next morning. I shuffled through all my dresses even before brushing my teeth. Nothing suitable was there.That's when I could hear mom arguing downstairs. Oh no. What's this now? Too many things have happened and have left me with no time to digest.

"How can she leave as she wishes?" mom said as she scoffed. Who the hell was that 'she' that left and made mom angry? I ran down. I probably shouldn't have. I couldn't register anything mom said to me, other than these two words,"Katie left" I sat down in the dining room processing each letter as mom shook me awake."Huh? What?"

"It's the truth, dear. I know it's hard to accept." She gently said.

"No mom, are you crazy? Katie didn't leave and fly back to London." Just as I finished that sentence, my brain realized that every word I said was true.
