"I'm sorry if I offended you. But it had to be that way. It has to be that way." I said.

"Look, I'm sorry too. I may have overreacted and most likely offended you too. But you, Carla and Adam are the only friends I've had in, well, ever. And I just felt betrayed." Tristan said as he dropped his gaze.

"To be frank, I don't know how it feels to be betrayed. Because I've never been betrayed. But I know it feels awful. And I don't want you to feel that way. I don't want to mess up things yet again, but I can't tell you either."

"Leave it, Kyra." he said and started walking away. I felt so responsible for his feelings and I didn't want to let him go. Should I tell him? Or not. I don't know.

"Tristan, wait!" I said and he stopped in his tracks. "This is really difficult for me. That information I'm hiding is really important. But I trust you. There's no point in holding it back from you anymore. So, I'm gonna tell you everything."

"Really?" he said childishly.

"What are you, ten?"

"Oh, come on! Everybody gets excited when they're about to hear some top secret privileged information."

"Well, it is privileged. But it is bizarre. And crazy. Stuff that you won't believe. Things that take a lot of time to process."

"Try me!"

"It is kinda a long story. So maybe we should sit down."

"Um, okay?" he said and we went to the nearest classroom and sat on the first bench.

"Okay, calm down. Don't freak out." I said as we sat down.

"Are you gonna tell me a ghost story? I've heard a lot of weird things."

"Somewhat like that."

"Go on."

"Okay, I don't know where to start, so I'm gonna go straight to the point." I cleared my throat and continued, "Um, okay. So, vam.. God, this is difficult. Right. Vampires exist."

"I know, my uncle's one." What? He already knew?

"So you know about this stuff already?"

"Kyra! You've gotta be kidding me. I was just joking, like you."

"No, that's just it. That's the truth!"

"No, the point is, I asked you to tell me the truth and you're making super duper crazy stuff up."

"Do you trust me?"

"Well, in normal circumstances, I would."

"Great! So just hear me out." I said and explained literally everything to him. "Do you believe me now?" I said after I finished explaining.

"Yeah, I have to."

"Good."

"Does Carla know?" he asked.

"Yeah. So, are you okay? I mean, these things take a lot of time to process."

"Um, yeah. I guess." he said and went into utter silence for a few moments. I felt bad for telling him now. Then he said, "But, believe me, I've processed a lot more difficult things."

"This is about your dad, isn't it?"

"Yeah."

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

"No, I really don't wanna talk about it."

"I'm a good listener." That's true.

"Uh, okay. So, my dad, I don't even call him that anymore. Anyways, when I was 10, he told me that we weren't supposed to talk to or even see each other anymore." I wanted to ask questions like, 'What?' , 'Why?' but I remained quiet and let him continue. "I protested otherwise. I was so stubborn. Then he started ignoring me. He never replied to me or said anything to me. I started hating him, just like he wanted. He never talked to Jude either. I still do not know why he did that."
