Chapter 12

Tristan: Hi Ky! Are you coming over or shall I?

Kyra: Um for what?

Tristan: I am sighing out loud right now. The sociology case study! How can you forget that? Do you even remember that we're a team?

Kyra: Oh god. I totally forgot about that. There'll be literally no one in my house since Carla's parents returned from their vacation. So I guess I'll come?

Tristan: Cool. Today evening 5pm okay?

Kyra: I need to ask mom before that.

Tristan: Okay, fingers crossed she'll allow.

Kyra: Don't worry, she will.

The next thing I did was call mom. She picked up and said, "Hey honey! What is it?"

"Hi mom. You looked gorgeous this morning even though I didn't take a proper look." I said.

"Okay. What do you want?" she said .

I sighed and said, "Can I go to Tristan's house for a project in sociology? He says I can come at 5pm today. Please?"

"Hmm, okay. But, you should be back before 7:30. Is that clear?"

"Yesss!! You are the best mom in the world. Thank you!!!!!! I'll be back soon enough. Don't worry about me. Bye!!"

"Bye!"

I decided to text Tristan the victory, but where's the fun in that?

Kyra: My mom's worried about my safety and she didn't allow me to come.

Tristan: Shit, you told me she will let you come, right?

Kyra: Yeah, I was in for a shock too.

Tristan: Any chance I can come over?

Kyra: Not possible.

Tristan: God, I thought your mother was cool.

Kyra: She's afraid that you'll bite my head off.

Tristan: Wth?

Kyra: Ha ha ha just kidding!!!! She said I can go.

Tristan: Your humour is the worst.

Kyra: Oh thank you! See you at the junction?

Tristan: Yep.

It was just 4pm then. I hadn't talked to Katie ever since the day she told me that she was a vampire. So I decided to give her a call. When she picked up, I said,

"Hey Katie! Sorry I was too busy. I couldn't call you."

"No worries. I have been busy too."

"By what? Drinking blood?

"Probably" she said and we laughed.

"Um this is your final year right? It's almost October now. You'll have to come back here."

"About that. I was thinking about taking up a job here in London."

"What? No you can't do that!!! You can't stay away from us forever!"

"I know, but there's no choice."

"Of course there is. You'll come back and find a job right here in New Orleans. Now isn't that good for everyone?"

"Noooo.... It's that I could hurt you and we'll have to let mom and dad know...."

"Katie come on!! You're their daughter!! Do you think they'll throw you out of the house just because you're this... thing? You'd be mad to think so."

"Well, then consider me mad. I don't think they'll react well to this news Ky."

"You'll have to tell them to see their reaction! Or I can tell them if you want."

"No no no no no.... you're never going to do that. Promise me."

"Fine, but they are going to know at some point."

"They won't know until I tell them."

"Okay, leave it. Your course ends on the day before Halloween, right? Come home, Katie. Please. We can discuss your never ending future afterwards." I said with a slight chuckle.

She chuckled back and said, "Hmm, maybe I can come home. At least for sometime."

"Yessss!! That's my sister. Way to go Katie!!!!!!" She asked me about school and I told her everything that happened during the past 3 school days. And I hung up as it was time to go to Tristan's house.
