I was woken up by a conversation that was going on with Katie and someone on the phone, whom I assumed as Jake.

"I'm going to the donors' to restock myself. No, I have got enough for the day. Ya bye." Katie said.

Jake on the other end said something that made Katie laugh.

As I went down to brush my teeth, I asked, "You sure he's not your bf?"

" Oh god!!! No Kyra, No."

"Okay, I get it."

Mom and Dad work together. They are cops. They took up this job since I could remember. Now I am 17 and still they are working. My interest in criminal justice grew by watching them solve tricky cases. Thank god they are not the ones that grab a gun, run into the field and shoot the guilty. They are a part of TANO ( Technical Assistance of New Orleans). Yes, they are the backstage saviours of New Orleans. (also known as the Crescent City)

"Honey dears, your dad and I are off to work. There's cornflakes in the cabinet and milk in the fridge. Love you both. Bye!"

"Oh ugh same old cornflakes. Can we do something Ky?" asked Katie.

"Sure, I'm bored of the flakes."

After a few disagreements, we decided to whip up an ordinary red sauced pasta.

"I'll cook the pasta you cut the veggies." I demanded.

She grunted and gave in.

While I waited for the water to boil I turned to watch my sissy cut the tomatoes.

That's when I saw or I thought I saw she cut herself. "Oh my god, Katie!!" I exclaimed.

She said, "Ow, that's nothing Kyra. Nothing."

I rushed to her aid but, in the blink of an eye there was nothing but ketchup on her hand.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Nothing happened Kyra, I just splashed ketchup on my hand by mistake."

"No, I swear I saw you cut yourself."

"Wait, let me wash my hand and let's see the wound."

But there wasn't any wound at all. Her hand just got rid of the ketchup.

I was beyond confused. "Why did you say 'ow' then?"

It was almost like she was making up the answer because she thought and thought before saying, "I hurt my toe."

Whatever happened was unreal and the reason Katie gave, did not convince me even a bit.

We ate breakfast in silence. After finishing, Katie told me that she had to sign in to the blood donor across the alley for some purpose. I insisted she should take me along, but again in vain.

"Why are you denying me precious time I can spend with you?" I burst out of anger.

" It's not that I don't want to spend time with you, I can't."

"Whatever you're hiding, I am going to find out."

She opened her mouth to argue but then said," I'm taking mom's car."
