Chapter 31

I went upstairs to keep Katie and Jake distracted until Adam arrived. Meanwhile, mom, dad, Carla and Tristan were setting up the living room.

"So, do you need any help?" I asked.

"No, but I think Jake does." Katie said without looking at me.

"What happened between you two?"

"Nothing."

"Okay, I'll go help him." I said and went to the guest room.

I opened the door and before I could say anything, he said, "I'm not in the mood to talk."

"Oh, um, okay."

"Kyra! Sorry, I thought it was Katie. Your hair is so similar to hers."

"Um, I've heard that before. But, what's going on?"

"Nothing, it's just that she doesn't want to stay here."

"Yeah, I have to talk to her about that. Um, doesn't your family live in London though?"

"If I had one. They abandoned me as soon as they found out what I was." I felt so sorry for him.

"I'm so sorry. I'd never do that to anyone."

"Well, the past is the past. I've moved on. Being in London makes me want to see them. That's why I want to stay here. Katie thinks she's a potential threat to you guys. But I know she isn't. I tried talking her out of it but she keeps getting back to that one time when she lost control."

"The blood donors'." I mumbled.

"Yeah,"

"Anyways, um, do you want any help?"

"Nah, I'm fine."

"Okay." I said and headed back to Katie's room.

"Apparently, he doesn't need help, you do." I said.

"What? No, I'm all done."

"Not physically. Jake told me everything."

"Great! Spares me the time to tell you that."

"Katie, you are not a threat to us. You're my sister."

"Yeah, a vampire sister."

"That doesn't matter to me."

"Ya, to you, but for mom and dad?"

"It won't matter to them either!" I exclaimed.

"How do you know? Jake thought the same and you must've heard what happened to him when he told them."

"They won't abandon you." I said and she didn't reply so I said, "But hey! Let's not make this day despondent. It's supposed to be fun-filled."

"Right! Sorry. Let's go down." she said and started walking.

"Wait! I uh um have to show you something. Just wait here and I'll bring it."

"Okay?" she said as she sat on her bed and a dust bomb exploded. Uh.. Not exactly a dust bomb but really very similar to it. "You didn't bother to clean my room?" she asked.

"When you leave without saying goodbye, then yes." She laughed and I headed down. I opened the door that separated the living room from the stairs and stood in awe when I saw the decors.

"That's.. beautiful!!"

"Yeah, credits to me!" Tristan said.

"What? You did nothing but stand there." Carla said. Tristan scoffed and I said, "I know he didn't do anything." That's when I noticed Adam. Tristan opened his mouth to argue but I said,
