"Camelot is doomed. Because Arthur Pendragon is dead."
It was silent in the small tent. The planes that were supposed to keep them from rain were half eaten by moths and Arthur felt a few raindrops drop on top of his head.
"They won't believe it, Vianna.", Arthur hissed back at her. His mind was reeling.
He had seen the copy the young druid made of him. Had seen how she send the thing, who was just as fierce and just as loyal as Arthur, to ride out to Camlann with Arthur's men. Protecting as many of them as possible.
However that was not an honest attempt at saving their lives, even if – perhaps – the copy believed it to be.

They had even killed Morgana. And Mordred. All traitors to the crown. What would be more believable than an Arthur who managed to accomplish that?

Arthur didn't dare think of the friends he may have lost in the battle. And he wondered idly, how Merlin was faring. Merlin was stupidly brave. Almost as stupid as Arthur himself, when it came to self preservation.
Many people must have died in the war. If Arthur himself had died... what about the man he kept protecting? What about his best friend, who always stood by his side, no matter how dangerous their enemy was?
Was Merlin alive, or had he become one of the nameless corpses that were scattered all over the bloody remnants of the battleground?

"They will.", Vivianna sighed the simple answer.
"Why are you doing this?", Arthur asked, not intent on denying that her plan was probably working already. That didn't mean he would admit it. "I am alive, because of you. I could have died at Camlann. The person you made for that, did. So, why did you bring me here? What could you possibly need me for?"
It was a logical question. It stemmed from the knowledge that Vianna was preparing an army to overthrow what was left of Camelot.
Camelot was severely weakened without it's king. Without half it's men.

Vianna finally looked up at him. She was cleaning her fingernails with a knife. Now, the knife snapped shut, as she gracefully sat up. Vianna was no lady. No princess. She wore armor like any other knight Arthur had encountered. And Arthur wasn't stupid enough to think that a woman was in any way less powerful than him. Especially one who had magic. AND a sword.
Morgana had knocked that knowledge into him, when he was barely a teen.
And Morgause had reminded him of that fact, when she defeated him in a one on one duel some years ago.
The question wasn't IF Vianna could defeat him. And it wasn't how – magic or sword was of no matter – it was the why that irked Arthur.

"Because I want Albion.", she said. "I want the golden age. And you have failed to bring that upon us. And Emrys -", she spit out the unfamiliar name like venom, "- has failed to help you make it happen."

Arthur stared at her. The words fell on deaf ears. Not because Arthur wasn't listening. But because he had no idea how to take that in. His ears may as well have lost their function.
But tided up as he was, his hands scraping at metal bars that kept him in place, he had no choice but to keep looking at her. And keep asking.
"You have to explain that to me. Because, quite frankly, I have no idea what – or WHO – you're talking about.

Vianna shook her head in disappointment, before she pointed her knife at Arthur.
"And that is exactly why, Pendragon. You should know by now.
By now, you should have brought peace to Albion. Magic should be legal! You should have rescued us from the tyranny that was your father. Instead you created monsters like Morgana who threaten us.
You started wars were there should have been negotiations. You kill magical creatures, because you don't understand them.
And you keep building pyres for people, just because you fail to listen to them.
I am sick of this. Destiny be damned. If Emrys won't make you, then I will.", she said this as if she didn't talk treason.
