I was told to break my vows, so I did. Sorry for not posting anything for the Clockroom lately, I've been very busy with uni and another fanfic that I kind of obligated myself to write for my friend. I might upload that one, too, but it's for a different and much more difficult fandom. Please forgive me :)

"I am a sorcerer. I have magic."

Arthur still thought of it sometimes, the day that had changed his perception of the world. The day that made him question everything his father ever taught him. The day that his world turned upside down. It had been the day his manservant confessed his magic to Arthur.

Little changed after that, Arthur thought sometimes, except everything. Arthur was still king, Gwen still his wife, Merlin still his manservant and best friend. Arthur still trusted him, still asked him for advice and still joked with him. Merlin never tried to kill him (that Arthur knew of) and was still his old clumsy self and of course, always claimed he was somehow saving Arthur's butt. He may not be entirely wrong, however, Arthur was sure that Merlin was overselling himself, as usual.

What had actually changed was that Merlin now used magic in broad daylight. Magic was no longer illegal and it seemed that the entire kingdom had transformed for the better for it. Arthur didn't face assassins everyday anymore and it seemed that magical creatures were returning to the world.

At first, the last part had put Arthur on edge. He had experienced first hand how dangerous magical creatures could be. Such as the Bastet, Gryffins, Gargoyles that came to life, Dragons and so on and so forth. It took Arthur months to come around to the fact that half of these creatures could be argued with. A second part had been enraged under Uther's reign, as they were hunted and cornered wherever they went, and could now, thanks to the new laws, return to their peaceful ways. And the last fraction of that category were simply people who had been cursed and couldn't stop themselves from attacking and killing people. It was sobering, in a way.

It took a lot of work, but eventually Arthur had established a law that was fair to all and Camelot had never strived as much as it did now. The only thing he still wished for, was a decent court sorcerer, since Morgana had refused the position for reasons she wouldn't disclose to him, and for other kingdoms to follow his example.

Queen Annis had already made the first steps in that direction and Mithian was on an equally promising path. King Lot was still an issue, but he, too, seemed to slowly be coming around.

What Arthur had NOT been accounting for, was the new kingdom that was rising from seemingly nowhere. At first, Arthur had dismissed it as rumors, since the stories regarding that kingdom were nonsensical and fantastic in many ways. But after a year of more and more people talking about their travels to the Perilous Lands that were suddenly possible to be found again, Arthur had sent a few of his knights to investigate the rumors. Sir Lancelot and Sir Leon had returned with the News that the kingdom was, in fact, no longer a wasteland. It was now a rich kingdom with lots of Greens, magical creatures, sorcerers and witches and a Queen as beautiful as a goddess.
