A.N.:// This chapter isn't fun. The next ones won't be either. So here some fun art as compensation.
----------------------------------Arthur hadn't talked to anyone about the encounter with Brian the previous day.
It had been too surreal.
He hadn't even had the chance to talk to Merlin yet. And Merlin was the first person he would come to with anything.Of course, upon returning home, Morgana was once again not in her room. Though Arthur had it on good notice that she was helping on planning the unwanted birthday party. And with party he really just meant a small get together. It was his 18th birthday. They would probably break in through the window, just to give him a cake and a gift.
Anyway, Arthur had finally managed to give back the batteries and the candles and the projector.
Morgana found him that morning in school to thank him for it.
"Was about time."
Yes, that was what a Morgana-thank-you sounded like."You're welcome.", Arthur yawned. It was too early for this. Where had she slept last night, anyway? At Merlin's? Hunith loved Morgana for some reason. Or Gwen's again?
"No. YOU'RE welcome. I overheard these dudes complaining to a teach that they don't want to be in the same changing room as two gay kids. I knocked some sense into them.
Arthur looked up. "Really? Are they alive?"
Morgana frowned in thought. "Not sure. Let's just say, they won't be sharing the same changing room with you. That's what they wanted, right?"
Arthur knew she was bluffing. Unless...
He smiled. "You're unbelievable, Morgana. But thank you.""Now that you mention it -" Technically, Arthur hadn't mentioned anything. "... I wanted to ask you... what are you planning?", Morgana asked, her voice lowered now.
"What?", Arthur felt more confused than anything.
Actually, he was a little distracted, since Brian walked passed them in that moment. He send Arthur a glance. Then he nodded and pointed at his phone. Then he looked away. No comment, no fight. That was all he did.
It might be a message Arthur didn't yet understand.
All in all, Brian seemed calmer, now that Arthur was wearing a "normal" red hoodie today."What you're planning. I know you and Merlin aren't really together. Neither of you is brains enough to cross that awkward sexual tension between you. You're both cowards. I know you're trying to prank us. But for what?"
Arthur stared at her. Morgana that fucking witch. Of course she looked right through them.
"What did Merlin say to you, yesterday?" Arthur crossed his arms. Morgana may be smart, but there was no way she had figured it out by watching Merlin and Arthur interact in school. Not even she would have figured that out.Morgana sighed and rolled her eyes. "He didn't say anything, alright? He just looked so sad every time we mentioned you were together. At first I thought you two had a fight. But you two never fight. So.... a prank was the best bet. But by your reaction just now I know I'm right.", she concluded victoriously.
Arthur sighed again.
"Alright. You got us. We're doing this to get Percy and Gwaine together."
Morgana was already going to counter, when Arthur explained.
"Or rather... that WAS the plan. We kind of did it already. Now we're just waiting until everything has calmed down and then we go back to before."Morgana snorted. "Yeah right."
"No, that IS the plan.", Arthur insisted. "You got us. I'm not bluffing."
"It's a stupid plan. If you wanted them together, you could have just talked to Gwaine. In fact, Gwen and I were planning on it for months. Which you should know, because you spy on our conversations you creep. What is your real plan?
We both know you and Merlin can't go back to normal after this. You love him. For real.
You wouldn't risk your friendship for something like that.", Morgana was starting to look worried now. Sensing that there was more to it. And THAT was beyond rare.
