The sounds of shouting in the distance made me step back from the kiss, Tomura and I both turning in the direction of the yelling.

It was easy to recognize that it was coming from a group of people gathered outside the building in the parking lot, and even though we were far enough away to avoid being noticed, there was no mistaking that yell.

A sob caught in my throat when I caught sight of him; Katsuki was on a stretcher with paramedics and heroes all around him, and even though I could only barely see him through the crowd, his shouting was unmistakable.

He was okay.

I tried to identify the people standing around him. Kirishima and... Shoto? He wasn't supposed to be here... Was that Aizawa?

I started to sprint toward them when Tomura grabbed the back of my (his) jacket and yanked me back, hiding us behind the tree again.

My eyes searched his quickly, trying to understand what he was waiting for. They were all right there. Right. There.

"What?" I asked, hoping he understood the urgency in my voice. "What is it?"

"It's just..."

"What? Spit it out."

As much as I seemed to be in a hurry, he seemed to be taking his time. Tomura groaned and shuffled his feet, kicking a rock with the side of his shoe instead of answering me.

"Tomura. What is it?"

"It's just... Damn it, y/n. Why am I always returning you back to Dabi or some hero instead of keeping you for myself?" He looked at me through his messy waves of blue hair, his eyes lingering on my lips before traveling down to the skin exposed by the gold dress.

"I'm the one who saved you, didn't I?"

So that was it. He didn't move, staying completely still, when I gently tucked some of his hair behind his ear, exposing more of his face. I let my hand linger on a particularly raw patch of skin on his neck, feeling him shiver underneath my touch.

"And I'm grateful that you did," I said softly.

"Then why can't I keep you?"

"Tomura. I'm going to be completely honest with you. I'm in love with him."

"Dabi? Or one of those hero brats?"

"Yes."

"That doesn't make any sense."

"It doesn't have to."

"So...Does this mean I don't get to have your hands anymore?"

I smiled, tugging on a strand of his hair. "What if we set up a schedule? Regular appointments for... healing. How does that sound?"

He perked up and looked a little more hopeful at the idea. "Is a happy ending included?"

I tugged a little harder on his hair and he winced. "We'll see," I told him.

Tomura's phone rang, and when he walked away to answer it, I figured he was distracted enough that I took that as my cue to go.

I tried again to walk around to the other side of the tree, fully intending on running to Katsuki and Shoto before the ambulance took off, but a dark, blurry force tackled me at the waist, both of us tumbling to the ground.

"Oof," was all I had time to mutter as the breath was knocked out of me by the impact, landing on my back.

"Are you trying to kill me?" I coughed from the ground.
