I couldn't stop laughing. I was wheezing. Wheezing. Tears were streaming down my face. "Your dad..." I choked as the words came out. "Your dad... is... Endeavor?" I started coughing from laughing so hard.

I was pretty sure at this point that my life was just one big cosmic joke.

"I just... You're just... he's just..." I buried my face in my hands to try to stop my laughter.

"What is wrong with you?" Dabi growled, brows furrowed, angry.

"Oh a lot!" I replied, laughing. "Okay, okay I'll stop. But you have to see that it's kind of ironic that the son of the number one hero works with the League."

He got up and started to walk away, obviously mad at how I was reacting. "Not ironic, it's fitting. The guy is and always has been an asshole."

"Trust me, I know," I said.

He scoffed. "I doubt daddy's spoiled princess has any idea."

"You don't know anything about me. And Shoto is your brother? Oh wow. You guys are so different. Shoto is kind and gentle and wow. I mean, just wow."

I had never known what it was like to have a typical family, but I could say with absolute certainty that I would take what I had experienced over being a part of the Todoroki family.

"Hold up." My mind was quickly processing this new information. "You and me. I mean, this is your plan? Making him jealous or something? This is a little gross, even for my standards, which are pretty low if you really think about it. Oh god, was that... we were at his house? Your house?"

Dabi leaned against the wall and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Nothing about that place is mine. I was surprised you had never been there."

"Yeah? Don't be. I was kept on a leash, remember? He only came to see me, not the other way around. I can't imagine what it would be like to be his child." I shivered at the idea.

"Yeah well me either. In that house there was no such thing as childhood."

Looking at Dabi, it was obvious that ferocious predator of a few moments ago was gone, now replaced by someone angrier, yet also sadder. Vulnerable, even.

"That explains how you knew to get in the house."

"You learn escape routes quickly growing up in a place like that."

"And you burned your family photo albums. Damn." Then the realization hit me. "Oh my god. You left my underwear on Endeavor's bed. That is... sort of hilarious."

Dabi raised one eyebrow. "You know, little girl, I'm starting to think you might be just as twisted as I am."

"No, sir."

"Oh really? I think you have some villain in you. Have you ever purposefully hurt someone?"

I thought about Shinso and cringed. "Not physically."

"Emotionally is worse," Dabi responded. "Do you frequently lie? Do you hide your identity? Do you betray others? Do you have a relatively loose sense of morality?"

"All right, enough. What's your point? If I have done any of those things, it's because I had –"

"A good reason to do it?" he said, finishing my sentence. "Isn't that exactly what a villain would say? Before your judge me and my decisions, take a good look back at yourself."

Before I had a chance to say anything back, Dabi got a phone call and walked out of the room, leaving me alone to let what he had said sink in.

He was wrong.

Everything I had done, I did because my actions would eventually help others.

Or is that just what I told myself?

There was no way to know how much time passed. Without windows, it could have been afternoon, evening, who knows? I changed clothes, I sulked around, I made a mental list of all of the hateful things I would say to Dabi when I saw him.

All I knew was that I was knee deep in my own pity party, still stewing over what Dabi had said, when the door opened again.

Only instead of Dabi, it was Shigaraki. With no hands on him this time, I could see that mischievous grin.

"I heard about your little adventure today. Come have a drink with me."

He was why I was there after all. My chance to learn something about what the villains were planning. I now knew Dabi's main motivation was revenge on Endeavor, but I still didn't have any connection to UA itself.

And Dabi had just pissed me off.

"If you're buying, I'm drinking."

"Excellent. I know a great little place not too far from your precious school."
