This day would not end.

I kept my phone hidden in my lap and whenever Aizawa turned around I tried texting Shinso. No response.

Was he mad?

Avoiding me?

Just busy in class?

I needed to talk to Shinso to explain what he had seen, but, really, what was I going to say? So one time Bakugo and I made out but now we're just friends, I think, but he's really hot and he makes me confused. Nope, that wouldn't work.

Do I play it off like I didn't know he was watching?

Do I lie and tell him that Katsuki means nothing to me?

Nothing was official between Shinso and I. We hadn't even kissed. So why was I feeling like I had somehow betrayed him?

After he finished giving the class instructions for the lesson, Aizawa stopped behind my desk, tapping me on the shoulder. "Y/n, I need to see you in the hallway."

"Is this about being late? I can explain that, I –"

"Hallway. Now." His voice was low like a growl.

Katsuki gave me a look as I left the room to follow Aizawa into the hallway, and I shrugged my shoulders at him.

Once the classroom door shut, the hall was empty except for him and I. Aizawa stared at me, arms folded, eyes narrow.

"Am I about to be punished?" I asked playfully. "Because I'm over here wondering if there are cameras in the hallways or..."

His face was anything but playful. "So Endeavor is attacked last night and then you're hours late today."

"I overslept."

"Right."

"I'll get the make up work, if that's what you're worried about."

"You know it's not."

I shrugged.

"Fine. Keep your secrets. Nothing stays hidden forever though." Aizawa walked closer to me, stopping close enough that I could reach out and touch his shirt. Instead, he reached out and traced the collar of my shirt with his hand while he talked. "Technically, you are my student. Get back in there and at least pretend to be doing some work. I'll excuse you from class to talk with a few of them one on one even."

"Um.. thanks. But why?"

His hand fell from my shirt to my side, where he locked a few fingers in with mine. It was such a simple gesture, but it felt soft, and kind.

"Because these students are genuine and hardworking. Honest. Loyal. They're figuring out their futures each day. I have a feeling there might be a lot they could teach you."

I felt heat rise in my cheeks.

"So that's what you think of me?" I whispered. "You think I am... not those things?"

His voice was a whisper too. "I think a lot of things about you. Most of which are things I can't say in this building," he smirked. "But I also think and hope that you're not letting someone else decide your own future."

He released my hand and walked back inside the room. I followed behind him, his words feeling like a weight in my chest.

This day truly felt like it would never end.

Back in the room I pulled my desk out of the way and had brief chats with a few of the students. I helped Kirishima think of some new fabrics that might not rip as easily and Momo had some ideas about a different type of belt. All good ideas that I would send in to the shop later.
