The flames swerved, and the room was suddenly lit brightly as flames erupted on either side of me. Bright, hot blue flames. Now I could clearly see Dabi walking directly toward me. I froze. His face was so different, a strange combination of amusement and anger, much more serious than the last time I saw him.

I knew I should run but there wasn't time. If he could make flames that large that fast, I didn't stand much chance of running away unharmed. But I also didn't want to get kidnapped or killed in this abandoned warehouse.

I forced my body to move, to run, and I ran and jumped behind a large column.

"So we're going to play hide and seek?" he asked as he looked for me. "Why so shy this time?"

I took off running toward the front door, but blue flames shot up, stopping me in my tracks and giving him time to catch up to me.

He moved to grab my arm, and he quickly had me pinned against his chest, my back to him. I kicked him as hard as I could and he backed off for a second. I started to run but he was able to grab my hand again from behind, but with my momentum moving forward, both of us fell onto the floor. My forehead hit the concrete first and I felt dirt and debris cut my face. I had tried bracing my fall with my arm, but it only got twisted under me.

Lucky for him, I had cushioned his own fall as he fell on top of me. Pressed against the floor, with him on my back, I tried to shove him off, but he kept his arms down by my sides, pinning me.

"This is a different kind of dance, isn't it, doll?"

I managed to roll over underneath him, and I looked directly into his eyes. Hoping someone walking by would hear, I screamed as loud as I could, only to be muffled by one of his hands. The other took my arms and held them over my head.

"Well, isn't this interesting," he said, a devilish smile appearing on his face. "Definitely not where I thought this night was going. Maybe I should have just burned you alive."

I bit into his hand as hard as I could. His grip was firm though, and his other hand started to heat up. My wrists were burning and I could smell my own flesh.

"Keep biting me and you'll have burns in some interesting places," he growled in my ear.

I thought I saw someone walk by the window. I prayed that it was someone, anyone, who might hear us in here. I tried screaming again but his hand had muffled any sound.

"It's no good. I'm taking you with me in just a moment. I know you'll be more fun alive than burned anyway. We just need to hang on a few more minutes."

After he said that, he paused, slightly relaxing his grip on me, and I took that as my opportunity to start kicking and squirming as much as I could to try to get away. "Stop that," he said quietly, but he was still focused on something else. "Well, kid, it looks like your white knight got here just in time." He suddenly let go of me and sat back, shaking his head.

Scrambling back a few feet away from him, rubbing my wrists, I asked, "My what?"

"Little Shoto. Don't worry. You'll hear from me again soon." And just like that, in a purple mist, he was gone, leaving me on the floor, hands trembling and arm dangling at my side.

As quickly as he was gone, I felt arms around me. "Y/n? Are you all right?" I felt arms hug around me and turn me towards him. I looked into Shoto's eyes – his beautiful mismatched eyes.

"You got my text!" I cried, throwing my arms around his neck. "I didn't know if that would work because I had to send it so fast and I had to make it look like I was just checking the time so I didn't know if I had even hit send and I'm so glad you're here!" The words came out in a jumble and tears were streaming down my face. He held me tighter.

"I'm here. And we're getting you out of here. What were you doing here in the first place?"

Instead of answering, I hugged him tighter.
