Chapter 41

Sofia's POV

After signing up for the enchanted ice dancing test, my heart was racing quickly as ever. I wouldn't want to admit that I was starting to feel nervous about it. Since this isn't any normal training that I always attend after school ,but a test that will affect the total marks on our final grades.

I haven't perfect my skill on Icy float yet, I can barely stay in the air for 2 minutes. The routine for the test consists Icy float somewhere in the middle. The worst part right now is that I don't even have a partner to perform this routine. This final test is actually a duo program instead of an individual. I was planning on asking  Alyssa is she already had partner for the test.

As I was walking behind the school towards the stables , I found Hugo who was sitting on his horse as he walks out of the stables. " Oh Sofia-" he said with a shocked but guilty tone " Listen I- I'm sorry about just now ok ? I didn't mean it in a terrible, awful way "

Knowing he didn't really mean it back then, I forgave him with a smile. But if Hugo hadn't said all those stuff, I would still be trap in that small bubble, and Hugo was one of the key to my wake up call. Before I could walk away from this quiet atmosphere, my eyes were looking up and down which Hugo notices too.

"Need something? " Hugo asked while controlling his horse . He asked. I should be the one asking this but I just couldn't bring myself to say it considering the awkward situation that just happened during lunch, even if things are already settled.

"Kind of, I have something to ask you though " I said looking at him which he gave me a smile in response " I know it's very last minute but do you have a partner for the ice dancing test ?"

He soon chuckled after hearing my question, which I couldn't predict whether if it's a yes or a no. He shook his head as he got down from Electra " What do you think ?". Is he asking me now ? How could I answer if I couldn't even tell from his expression .

"Yes?" I answered uncertainly. It's not even that shocking if he agreed to my answer since it's really a last minute question. Hugo then placed a hand of his behind his head ,which looks like a questioning look to me . 

He then shook his head lightly "No, I don't ." he answered . That answer is what I am hoping for but I didn't expect it to be this true, it's to real to believe . " I have been rejecting a lot of people for something actually, and I was actually about to accept Sam's offer" 

For something ? Is that something me ,it must be. Is he trying to let go ? Well that would be a relief . But what about those words he meant last time? "Do you still have feelings for me ?" I whispered under my breath 

"Huh?" shit- he must had heard me. I'm doomed . I then starred into Hugo's eyes, hoping that he doesn't have a single clue of what I just said. Even if he felt uncomfortable with this starring ,I had no choice but to make sure he doesn't hear anything.

"What did you just said ? I'm certain that you said something" He look at me with an eyebrow raised. I keep on shaking my head with a tiny smile

Hugo soon brush off the topic as he gave me a nod "Sure, I'll be your partner". My eyes sparkle at his answer, making Hugo smile. Lucky.

After that, Hugo gave me a wave before heading off to the derby field. I quickly ran off to the stables to bring Minimus out for a final warm up. There's still a tiny problem which I still haven't told Hugo, I still couldn't perfect my Icy float. I'll just tell him later, it won't hurt right?

"Right your time and scores are concluded, it'll be out with your report card" our coach said as soon as he blew his whistle. My heart started beating faster than ever, and it's not that I'm afraid of failing Derby.

I look over to Hugo, who is now walking infront of me as he head towards the stables. I'm more afraid of being a burden to him once the results are out. It's our final year here and of course I should have put more effort into perfecting that stunt before.

The younger version of myself had a much prioritise time table than I am. As soon as I went into CSS, my freedom started to pack up each year. I get that. As everyone grow older, responsibility starts to grow heavier than before. I don't mind being a protector of the EverRealm, even if it takes up more time as I expected, I still manage my time for school and everything else. Except for ice dancing.

"Hugo wait up" I called out, riding on Minimus as I catch up onto him "I have one more tiny favor" I showed him a tiny hand sign while giving me a slight smile. He didn't say a word, but with his action, I continued talking without any hesitation.

"Could you teach me Icy Float" this time I pressed both of my hand together infront of my forehead. "Please!". There was still no response from Hugo, he might be mad. Anyone would definitely be mad, this is really a last minute training.

I slowly opened my eyes, as my hands slowly went back down from its position. All I could see is a Hugo who have a warm expression towards me, far from the expected reaction I had earlier. "Sure" he finally answered

I soon let out a sigh of relief, throwing a hug at him "Thank you" I squeeze him with all my might "I couldn't imagine a life without you" I don't even know how to thank him anymore.

Hugo gave me a light tap on the shoulder with a soft replied which I haven't heard in such a long time "You're welcome Sofia"
