Sofia's POV

Days slowly turn into weeks and my university life, how do I even start explaining it?

It's going great. Real great. Just.....

"Alright I'm gonna pass these papers down," the professor came in with a stack of paper in hand. "Find yourself a partner, a group of two and hand in your project before the winter break." the lights went off, darkness filled the room until a light from the projector projected to the front of the classroom.

"I'm gonna go through the project with all of you." the professor and picked up a laser pointing towards the projection.

Another assignment from another professor, this is even more than what I had to do in high school but no matter what I'm gonna try and get the best results possible. I do not expect university life to be easier. As we get older, our task start to get much more complicated and harder.

"Sof," Daxton whispered into my ear, without replying he continued knowing I had my attention on him "Partners? or Eleanor?"

"Why? Do you want me to partner up with Eleanor?" I asked, finally looking at his direction.

He took a deep breath "You were her partner in our previous class," following with a frown on his face

Even with the darkness filling the room, I still could see him frowning by the projector's lights. I could not help myself but to let out a snicker, "Alright alright," I said placing my hand onto his palm. "I'll be your partner."

Months passed, my relationship between me and Daxton sometimes feel different. I have no idea what is this feeling. I do not even have a proper explanation to explain it, nor can I even start forming words to my explanation.

"Hey it was only a ONE time thing!" Eleanor whisper-shouted from behind, instead of sitting beside me like all those years, surprisingly Eleanor chose to sit in the back today "You took her as your partner for most of the classes!"

"Shut up," Hugo's voice too came from behind, a seat behind Eleanor's. "Pay attention."

Eleanor went quiet but I still had my gaze on him, there it is again, that feeling from before. Time felt slow, I could even feel my heart beating. Hugo had his attention on the professor and I could not help myself but to take one more look at him before continuing class.

Why is this happening?

"I'm free until 3 in the afternoon." Daxton said while stretching his upper body. He then bent down to my vision level, a bright smile forming on his face. "Should we go on a date?"

I went closer to him. "Hmm should we?"

"Let's go, we've been so busy since classes started," placing both of his arm on to my cheeks. "Let's go," pulling the tone in the word go.

A sudden interruption came from Hugo as he stood up from his seat "I'm  leaving, later," with that he left the lecture hall with Eleanor tagging behind him.

Since the night of our graduation party, Hugo seemed distant. I knew he had a thing for me back then, but I do not have feelings for him. He might be distancing himself because of my relationship with Daxton.

But I found myself caring about him more often, and I could never figure out why. Anything that involved him, I would find myself worried. This has been going on for years on end.

"Shall we?" Daxton pushed my hair upwards from my forehead then placed a peck on my forehead

I nodded my head, packing my books and my laptop into my bag.

"Don't you think that guy in black looks good with the girl in dark green?" a girl said to her friend as she walk by mine and Daxton's seat.

I knew they were not talking about me and Daxton, because I am wearing a white blouse while Daxton is in a grey coat. The only people who wore black and dark green were Hugo and Eleanor.

My heart sank deep, without any reason. Am I jealous? It' s definitely not it, I am in a relationship with Daxton so why would I even be jealous? But this time felt worst than the past years.

I may have just been overprotective since we have been friends for years, and I should not even feel this way, I should support him. Right?

Coffee machine noises and conversations from each table were running through the background as I stared at the menu. "Dax, do you think I should get a hot caramel latte?" I asked, looking at him for suggestions.

"If that's what you want." His eyes were still stuck onto the menu, not even looking up at me. "I'll just have my regular."

"Alright." I stood up from my seat as I head towards the counter.

While I was waiting for my turn in line a girl, around my height accidentally bumped into me. She quickly apologised and stood behind me. She has long brown straight hair and always wore a pair of earrings that always caught my attention.

Because of her earrings, I instantly remembered that she has one same course with Hugo.

"Excuse me." the girl from behind spoke.

I turned my head behind just to check who was she talking too, it could have been me that she is calling.

"Hi, could you please let me go first?" she asked politely "I'm kind of in a rush." she said and a smile was then formed at the edge of her lips.

Before I could answer, someone's phone was ringing and interrupted our conversation. The girl quickly searched through her bag and pulled out her hand phone, giving me a subtle bow before answering it.

"Hello? Yes, yes," she spoke softly with her hand covering her mouth.

I wonder if the person on the otherside could hear her soft voice through such a loud and noisy environment.

"Is that all Hugo?" as soon as I heard the word 'Hugo', I tried to hear their conversation. I know eavesdropping is bad but my body and mind moved on its own "A plain black coffee with extra milk, for..... right you, and a ice caramel for Nikki. Yup, I have the rest of their orders, I'll be back soon."

Are they close?

"Oh and remember to call me if you spot the professor close by the building. Right bye." The girl then hung up on the call with Hugo. Her eyes then met mine, before I could think about anything I nodded my head and while letting her through.

"Thank you so much!" she gave me a bright smile, stepping in front of me.

I have never been such a busybody in life but I want to know what is between her and Hugo.

Just to be clear Sofia, you are not jealous. You are just curious since Hugo had been so distant. Not jealous nor a creep, just curious.

I took the drinks that I ordered back to my seat, the girl who I allowed to take my spot first, just walked out of the door, speed walking with more than 2 bags of drinks in her hand. I saw Daxton was looking at her when she walked out from the cafe.

Daxton then turn to me giving me a smile "You're back." he took his drink from the table. "I saw you were talking to that girl just now, did you make a new friend?"

I shook my head lightly as I sip onto my drink "I didn't even talk, all I did was nod my head."

He let out a chuckle slowly creasing my cheeks with his right palm "That's why I love you, are you bummed because of that?" he move closer towards me.

"No," I whispered underneath my breath.

"It's alright hmm, you have El and Hugo and mostly me." Daxton leaned in and place a peck onto my forehead "But I have to go, something came up with one of my assignment, I'm sorry."

"I'll see you later then."

"Bye love you."

"Love you too," this reply feels bland.

As Daxton said earlier, we are all busy with our own stuff, we barely had any time to spend together. Another day I'm spending the rest of my free time alone, again.
