"y/n, come here!" josh called. i got up and walked away from the clothes i was going through. josh, was going through papers. we had just gotten married and we were soon going to move out of our apartment and into our new house.

"look what i found," josh said, handing me a scrapbook. when i looked inside i gasped.

"you're kidding! is this our scrapbook we made in seventh grade when we first started dating?" i asked him. he nodded.

"15 years ago. i still remember the day i finally asked you."

"more like had tyler ask me."

"hey, i wrote the note!" josh argued. i giggled.

"fair enough, fair enough." i agreed. i sat next to him and we decided to go through the scrapbook.

*flashback*

"omg, y/n, your hair is so cute!" my friend, wren, told me. i smiled.

"really? i wasn't sure if anyone would like it short." i replied. she nodded, reassuringly.

"it looks really good. some might even say that you know who would like it." she raised her eyebrows up and down frantically. i put my hand on her mouth.

"don't you dare, wren. him and i barely talk except in class. there's no way he likes me."

"well i was talking to tyler who told me josh is like in love with you."

"yeah. sure."

"speak of the devil." wren said, looking behind me. tyler was standing there, awkwardly, with a piece of paper in his hand.

"josh told me to give this to you. so yeah, here." he said, giving me a piece of paper. "just circle yes or no and then give it back to me. i have a pencil."

i opened the note and there was a few sentences written in barely legible hand writing.

dear y/n,

i really like you. you're super cool and pretty and you crack the funniest jokes during science. i was wondering if you wanted to go with me to the spring dance? if not i get it, forget i even asked.

from,

josh.

yes or no (circle)

i smiled and blushed slightly. josh wanted me to go with him to the dance. it was like a dream come true. i immediately circled yes and wrote my number underneath so that he could call me.

i gave the note back to tyler, who ran away after. i looked across the lunch room and saw josh smiling as he read my response. gosh, this boy had the cutest darn smile.

"y/n, what did the note say?" wren asked me, curiously. i looked at her, revealing my huge smile.

"josh wants to take me to the spring dance!" i gushed. wren smiled and clapped.

"omg i'm so happy for you!" she told me.

"i seriously cannot wait."

*flashback over*

"i was so nervous that day. i was so sure that you were going to say no." josh said. i ruffled his curly brown hair and smiled.

"if i had said no i would have never forgiven myself. i never though in a million years that you could like me back. i mean, now look at us. we've been married for a month." i replied. josh smiled back.

"honestly if i thought i was nervous the day i asked you out, it could never compare to how nervous i was the night of the dance."

"oh my gosh, me too. wren and tyler were no help either."

"they really weren't." josh chuckled.

*flashback*

"y/n, you and josh should kiss!" wren said.

"oh no, what if he doesn't want to, wren? what if he doesn't like me like that?" i replied. wren chuckled.

"girl, yes he does. just go up to him and kiss him. i bet he'll kiss back."

"wren! there's no way i'm initiating it. i'm way too nervous."

"fine, im gonna go talk to tyler really quick then." she said, stubbornly, as she walked over to tyler.

joshs pov

"dude literally just kiss her. she's not gonna kill you." tyler urged. i sighed.

"i want to but i don't want to make her uncomfortable." i told him. he groaned.

"well, you're not gonna get anywhere if you just stand here. hold her hand, hug her, do something josh."

"i'm nervous! it's like all my nerves are tangled up together and i can't even think straight when i'm around her. i just can't do it."

"oh my lord." tyler groaned, face palming himself. just then, y/n's best friend, wren, appeared. she waved and then pulled tyler to the side.

the two of them talked privately for a minute before tyler came back over to me and wren went back to y/n.

your pov

wren came back over to me and took my hand.

"come on, follow me." she said, sounding like a mom. she walked me over to josh and then she and tyler made us really close to each other.

"you guys need to kiss." tyler said.

"yep. you both want to but you're afraid the other won't like it. so stop being cowards and do it!" wren agreed. i looked at josh who was blushing deeply. i knew that i was too.

"are you sure you want to?" josh nearly whispered. i nodded.

"only if you want to." i agreed.

josh leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. he was careful, as if he was afraid of doing something wrong. i kissed back, smiling while i was doing so. not so bad for my first kiss at 13.

when josh pulled away our best friends started cheering.

"yay, you guys did it!" wren cheered. tyler high fived josh.

"great job, guys." tyler told us. i looked at josh and smirked.

"okay, now when are you and wren gonna kiss?" i joked.

"yeah it's your guy's turn now." josh added. tyler and wren looked at each other in disgust.

"uh, ew. i like someone else." wren said. tyler nodded.

"yeah and i'm dating brooke, so that's not happening. no offense to you wren, you are a good person." tyler said.

"no offense taken. you're a good person too." wren replied. i just looked at josh and shrugged.

"come on, let's get back to the dance floor." josh decided. the two of us interlaced fingers as we joined everyone on the dance floor.

*flashback over*

"you had some killer moves that night." i joked to josh. he bursted into laughter.

"you mean when i tripped on tyler?" he asked. i giggled.

"maybe not that part." i said.

"those were some really good memories. i'm glad that through everything we still stayed together."

"i am too. i couldn't picture myself with a better lover or best friend."

"i love you, y/n."

"i love you too, josh." i told him. i then stood up. "now come on, let's go grab taco bell. i don't even think we have enough food in the cupboards to cook anything."

"yeah let's go." josh agreed, getting up. he flashed me one of his smiles that always made my heart melt.

gosh, this man had the cutest darn smile.
