"wow y/n you...you look stunning." josh complimented me when i came out of the bathroom. i simply looked at the ground and blushed.

"it's- it's nothing." i replied. josh held my hand and kissed my cheek.

"it's everything. you're gorgeous to me. are you ready to go out to dinner?" he asked me. i smiled and nodded.

"yes. i just really hope people judge less."

"nobodies gonna judge. and if they do, ignore them. all that matters is how in love we are. right?"

"you're absolutely right."

josh dun and i had been dating for three years and two months that night. we met when i was 22 and he was 36. it was never my intention to fall in love with that man, i only planned to be friends with him. but man, he swept me off my feet. when he asked me out my heart only screamed yes.

his fans were a little judgemental. the toxic ones were usually avoidable but it was mostly people who saw us kissing in public that judged from the sidelines. it's not like i was a minor. i was 25 and josh was 39. we could make our own decisions.

i grabbed my purse and josh grabbed his keys and the two of us left our house.

josh opened the passenger side door for me and i thanked him. he then got in and turned the heat on. it was a chilly december night, and it was snowing. i wore a jacket over my dress but it was still cold nonetheless.

i had no idea where josh was taking me. he said we were going out to dinner but didn't mention where. i had hoped it wasn't going to be an expensive place. i hated when josh spent money on me. his love was enough for me.

but josh being josh ended up pulling into the most expensive restaurant in columbus. i wasn't going to throw a fit because i didn't want him to feel bad. but deep down i kind of felt like crap because he was spending a ton of money on overpriced food.

we should've stayed home and door dashed taco bell.

josh parked the car and opened my door for me.

"thank you, love." i thanked him for being a gentleman. i then kissed his cheek and he closed my door for me.

"anything for you." he replied, taking my hand. the two of us walked to the front door and he opened it for me as we walked in.

we walked up to the receptionist who was a blonde girl who could only be 19 or 20.

"may i help you?" she asked us.

"reservation for dun?" josh requested. the receptionist looked at her list and nodded.

"of course. follow me." she replied. she grabbed two menus and then walked us to a table.

"your waitress will be with you in a few moments." the receptionist told us. she then disappeared, leaving josh and i alone.

"this place is so pretty josh." i commented. josh smiled.

"i only want the best for you. i love you so much." he told me. i smiled and blushed.

"i love you too, josh." i replied. just then, our waitress appeared.

"what can i get the two of you for your..lovely father daughter date?" the waitress asked us. josh chuckled lightly. i felt my face go bright red.

"this is actually my girlfriend and can you start us of with a bottle of champagne?" josh requested. the waitresses eyes widened.

"i am so sorry. of course you guys are- i'll go get you that champagne and two glasses right now." she said rushedly, and then disappeared quickly.

"i told you." i frowned. people were constantly assuming things. it just wasn't fair.

"she just didn't know, and that's okay. but she shouldn't have really assumed in the first place anyways. we don't even look alike." josh replied.

"yeah." i said, feeling an upset upsetness in my stomach. josh noticed and took my hand.

"let's not let this ruin our date, okay? i love you."

"i love you more."

"and i love you most."

the waitress reappeared and apologized once again. she gave us our champagne and then took our food order. she returned shortly with our food and josh and i ate. after that, josh payed the bill and the two of us left.

"there's one more stop i'd like to make before we go home." josh mentioned as he drove. i nodded as he then pulled up to a cazebo that had fairy lights all around it.

"join me for dessert?" josh requested. a smile stretched out on my face as i nodded.

we got out of the car and josh set out a blanket so we could sit in the cazebo. he also put on our playlist that we created when we first began dating. the first song that played was iris by the goo goo dolls.

"i brought [your favorite dessert] because i know you love it." josh told me. i smiled as he took it out of the picnic basket. his hands were shaky and i could tell he was anxious.

but why?

"you are just too damn good, josh dun." i said. josh chuckled nervously.

"only for the love of my life." he replied. we started eating and we ate until thinking out loud by ed sheeran came on. "will you dance with me, miss l/n?"

"absolutely." i agreed.

josh and i got up and began to slow dance to our favorite love song. it was so easy to be with josh alone. just the two of us, i never focused on the age gap. it was like we were the only people in the world, in love that was so deep. i wasn't ever going to want someone else.

"i want you to know how much i love you." josh spoke. "you mean the world to me. i've never ever loved a girl quite like i love you. you're funny, smart, sensitive, and so so beautiful. and..i want to spend the rest of my life with you, y/n."

"i want that too." i admitted. and then, like in all the dreams, josh got onto one knee and took out that small velvet box from his pocket.

"then will you make me the happiest man and marry me?" josh proposed. my hand flew to my mouth as i let out a soft cry and got down onto josh's level.

"yes! of course i will marry you josh." i cried. "i love you more than anything in the world."

josh slid the diamond ring onto my finger and kissed me with so much passion, i could almost die.

"gosh, i love you so much." i told josh. he chuckled.

"not nearly as much as i love you." he replied.

"you have no clue."
