"hey y/n, mia and i are gonna take the kids to the pool. you can come if you want but you don't have to." my brother, james, told me. i simply shook my head.

"no, i'll just let you guys have some family time. i think maybe i'll get a drink from the bar or something." i replied. he nodded.

"okay, i'll keep in touch. see you later."

i would've gone with my brother and his wife and kids, but i was already grateful enough that they invited me to go on the cruise with them. i always felt like i was intruding on their family moments, so i realized if i stayed back while they went to the pool they could finally just have their family time without aunt y/n distracting the kiddos.

i made my way to the cute little hawaiian bar and took a seat.

"what can i get you?" the bartender asked. i thought for a second.

"a strawberry margarita please." i replied.

"make that two." a guy with pink hair chimed in, sitting next to me. he was very attractive.

the bartender made two strawberry margaritas and when it came time to pay, i was going to pay for mine when the pink haired man stopped me.

"i got that for you, pretty lady." he told me. i awkwardly stuffed my money back in my jean shorts while staring at the man's face. he was extremely charming.

"thank you.." i thanked him, then realizing i didn't know the man's name.

"i'm josh. josh dun." he introduced himself. okay. first and last name introduction. interesting.

"i'm y/n. y/n l/n." i replied, introducing myself the same way he introduced himself. he looked at me for a moment as if he was waiting for something. but what was he waiting for?

"so i have a question, y/n." josh told me.

"okay, hit me." i said.

"have you ever heard of twenty one pilots?" he asked. i thought for a moment. was that like a movie or book?

"is it a movie or something?" i replied. "it doesn't sound familiar to me."

josh just laughed and took an awkward sip of his drink. i began to feel slightly stupid for not knowing of said twenty one pilots. was i supposed to?

"no, they're a band." josh informed me. "well, my band. we won a grammy at the last grammys."

my eyes widened. sure, i still didn't know josh's band, but they were apparently a big thing. all i could do was sit there, clueless.

"oh, good for you. but i'm sorry, i've never heard of your band." i admitted.

"that's a first, but it's okay, i'll take it. you're sure you haven't heard stressed out or heathens?"

"maybe if you showed me i could see if i did."

josh got out his phone and pulled up apple music. he searched up one of his songs and started playing it, turning it up. a song began to play and i recognized it from hearing it play in my car on the radio.

"oh i've heard this song before." i said. josh smiled like he won a prize.

"that's great. i'm just the drummer but when we won a grammy for this song it was both my best friend and i that were in our underpants." josh chuckled.

"i remember reading an article about two guys accepting a grammy in their underpants. i thought it was fake but..wow you had to have had a lot of confidence to do that."
