six months later

"i want to tell him." tyler said, moving a piece of my hair. we were cuddling on his couch watching IT. it was almost halloween so we decided cuddling and watching scary movies was a good idea. but i didn't expect tyler to bring up josh.

"i know. i'm just afraid of how he's going to react, ty." i replied.

"do you think we're serious? i do." tyler asked me. i moved so i could look into his eyes.

"of course i think we're serious. but all this time we've been going out of our way so that josh doesn't know we're together. don't you think he'll be upset?"

"he might be a little. but the longer we wait, the more upset he'll be. i really like you and i think we could go places. well, once we can actually go other places than my house."

"can we just sleep on it for now? right now, i just want to cuddle with my handsome singer boyfriend while we watch our favorite horror movie." i said to tyler. he nodded and smiled.

"you're lucky you're so darn cute." he told me. i gave him a slightly cocky smile.

"i get that a lot." i told him.

tyler then leaned his head down a little bit so that our lips could connect. they moved in sync as tyler moved me up so that i was straddling him. his arms moved down my back as our makeout session became more heated by the second.

"what. the fuck?" i quickly pulled away from tyler and looked behind me. i saw josh standing there with his jaw nearly touching the floor.

"josh-"

"how long has this been going on? have you both been going behind my back?" josh cut me off immediately. i looked at the ground. why did he have to find out like this?

"josh, i asked her out for coffee the night you had us meet." tyler admitted. a fire erupted in josh's eyes.

"AFTER I ASKED YOU NOT TO?" he freaked out.

"we like each other, okay? you can't expect us to just stay away from each other just because you don't want to deal with drama. and even if there was drama, we obviously wouldn't put you in the middle. we're not assholes, josh." i told him. josh gave me a look that i couldn't place.

"'not assholes' eh? it's not only that you guys promised, but you went behind my back! my own best friend and my sister! when did you even plan on telling me?"

"we were going to soon, josh. we just wanted to make sure we were serious before we pulled you into the situation. that's why we haven't told you yet." tyler told josh. josh took a deep breath as he tried to calm down. it made me loosen up a bit as well.

"so...even though you went behind my back it was only because you were making sure it was serious before you told me? you really were respecting that i didn't want to be pulled in the middle?" josh asked us. we both nodded furiously, as josh was actually understanding.

"yes!" tyler and i said at the same time. josh nodded silently for a few seconds.

"i'm sorry for freaking out. i was just upset because you guys were together behind my back. in fairness, i did try to control whether the two of you were together, which wasn't right on my end." josh apologized.

"it's okay, josh. but we do want to be together." i replied. tyler nodded.

"if anything happens between us, we won't drag you into the middle. we wouldn't." tyler added.

"okay, then i respect that. i don't mind if you guys are together." josh said. tyler and i looked at each other and smiled. "just, keep the pda down. i don't wanna turn around and see my best friend and sister sucking face every five seconds."

"you won't." tyler told him, as i blushed. it must've been beyond weird for josh to just walk in and see us making out.

"then in that case do you guys want to order a pizza and play mario kart?" josh asked us. we both nodded and josh left the room to order the pizza. tyler and i went to the living room to set up the game.

"well, i guess you got your wish." i said to tyler, chuckling slightly.

"what do you mean?" he asked me.

"josh knows now."

"well, i didn't mean to tell him now. but at least he knows and he's cool with it after we cleared it up. and we can tell everyone else. isn't that at least a plus?"

"yes. it is." i agreed. i then took tyler's hand as we picked out our mario kart racers.
