"sissy, where are you going?" my younger sister, liza, asked me. i smiled as i pulled my converse on.

"there's a new band and they're having a show tonight. i figured i might as well give them a try. you never know, this could be the best thing ever." i told her. although liza was only six, she nodded as if she understood.

"what are they called?" she asked, curiously.

"i think the flier said twenty one pilots. they're playing in the basement." i told told. her jaw dropped and her eyes went wide.

"THERE'S GONNA BE 21 PILOTS IN THE BASEMENT?! THAT'S SO MANY!"

"no, liza, that's just the band name. i'm pretty sure there's only two dudes in the band."

"ohhhh. well have fun, sissy!" liza told me. i smiled.

"i will, lize. you tell mom that i'll be back around midnight." i replied. she shook her head.

"mommy won't mind. you're a grown up remember?" she reminded me. i chuckled.

"i know, i just want mom to be aware."

"okay, i'll tell her. love you!"

"i love you too!"

i grabbed my keys and went out the door. the basement was about a twenty minute drive away. i plugged my ipod into my aux jack and played some music as i drove.

from what everyone in columbus was saying, the band that was playing was good. i wasn't too picky about my music choices, which was why i was so interested in going. i wanted someone to go with me but my friends were all busy and i didn't have a boyfriend.

when i finally made it to the basement, i shut off my car and went inside. it was easy finding a parking space, which resulted in me being early. which was okay, because at least i wouldn't miss any of the set.

i went to the entrance and gave the man my ticket. he swiped it and then let me in. the hallway i had to walk down was dark. when i reached the end, i accidentally ran into someone and fell on my butt.

"oh, i'm sorry! i didn't see you there." a man said, taking my hand and helping me up.

"no worries! i didn't see you either." i replied.

"do you know where you're going?" he asked me.

"uh, not really. it's my first time at the basement. i'm supposed to watch twenty one pilots perform."

"i can show you where to go. just follow me."

the man led me out of the hallway and into the place where i assumed the band would be performing. there was already some people in the pit, and that's where the man walked me.

"thank you for that. i'm y/n by the way." i thanked the man. he smiled. i realized then that he was extremely attractive.

"i'm tyler. i gotta go, but it was nice to meet you y/n. enjoy the show." tyler introduced himself and then walked away. i watched confusedly as he walked away. was he one of the crew members?

i stood there for about 15 minutes when all the lights turned off. the curtains moved and there was a man wearing a skeleton hoodie at the microphone and another man wearing a skeleton hoodie at the drums. just then, a deep voice began playing through the loud speakers.

time stands still
time stands still
there's a metaphor in hand
a metaphoric blast wich only few will understand
under clothes, under skin, underneath we're all the same
for when you remove the tricky tricks
only skeleton bones remain

once the voice stopped speaking, music started playing and the drummer began drumming. i watched, as this was not was i was expecting at all. it was cool.

"i wake up fine and dandy but then by the time i find it handy," the singer began to sing. when his hood came off, i quickly realized that it was tyler, the man who showed me where to go earlier. when he spotted me, he winked quickly before averting his attention back to the rest of the crowd.

i could have died right there.

i watched tyler throughout the entire show. he had an amazing voice, not to mention how enthusiastic he was, singing and dancing around the stage.

he made eye contact with me multiple times throughout the concert and it made my heart flutter. tyler was really attractive. i began to develop a bit of a crush on him.

the show closed with a song that was called trees. i really liked that one. the lyrics were really deep and at the end, confetti was everywhere.

after the show, i began to make my way out. i was for sure going to go to more concerts. the band made really good music, and i had a blast watching them play.

as i was about to leave, i was stopped. i turned around to see tyler, smiling.

"hey!" he greeted me. i smiled.

"hey, i didn't know you were in the band. you guys did great!" i said.

"thanks! i, uh, didn't mean to bother you but i was wondering if like maybe you wanted to..." tyler trailed off as his ears turned bright red. was he trying to ask me out?

"are you asking me out, tyler?"

"only if you'd like to. i just, you're really pretty and i appreciate you coming to the show tonight. but if you're not interested, i completely understand that."

"sure. i'd like to go out with you."

"really?!" tyler asked, clearly surprised. i giggled.

"yeah, let me put my number in your phone." i told him, smiling. he handed me his phone and i put my number in. i gave it back to him, still smiling.

"i've gotta get home because it is getting late. keep it touch?" i asked tyler. he nodded, vigorously.

"absolutely. i'll text you."

"have a good night, tyler."

"you too, y/n."

i finally made my way out of the basement, almost squealing with excitement.

not only did i find a new band i liked, but the lead singer was going to take me out on a date :)
