Guys it's Saturday and I'm sick and I've had a shit week at school. Enjoy the chapter :)
I opened the door to find Louis there, in a black shirt and jeans. He welcome himself in and threw his laptop onto the couch.
"What do you have to eat? I'm starving."
Wow, real charming.
"No hello, how are you?" I asked, he turned back to me and propped his hand up to resemble a wave before making a bee line to my fridge.
"Can I have this?" He showed me a popper. I nodded and shrugged.
That's probably been in there for 2 years.
But I didn't tell him that.
I opened my laptop and watched as he did the same, taking a huge sip from the popper, his face turning sour from the taste. "Why is black currant sour?" He asked, viewing the contents on the back of it.
"Probably because it's been in there since like 2018." I replied nonchalantly.
"2014 actually. Best before the 28th of April 2014." He walked casually to my bin and threw it out. He returned back to his spot next to me and brought out his laptop too.
It felt like we had gone back to our usual ways 1 year ago.
"Remember when we were friends for those 3 years," I muttered, typing onto my laptop. Louis hummed in response.
"What if we go back to how we were then? Best friends..." I suggested, my tone small and soft, scared for how he'd reply. He shut his laptop and crossed his legs, turning to me.
"I'd like that."
Woah.
"Really?" I grinned, smiling ear - to - ear.
"No I was just saying that for no reason," he said sarcastically, rolling his eyes. I mumbled incoherently under my breath and continuing researching for our second last slide on the topic. Monday afternoon we'd complete the last slide seeing as though the teacher separated our presentations out and we were presenting Tuesday.
I finally finished the bibliography of my slide whilst Louis added finishing details. He then decided we should put it on power point instead of word.
"Um no- it's already in word and set out perfectly."
"Yes but it'd look more organised in power point."
I threw my head back and let out a deep sigh.
"We're leaving it," I replied, gritting my teeth together. He shrugged.
"Only one way to make a decider, staring competition."
I almost laughed at the childish game but when I realised he was serious, I held it back. "Fine by me."
"No looking away," he declared.
I thought I was doing well, keeping contact and not looking away, my eyes trained on his as his trained on mine. But when his green eyes flickered to my lips for just a moment, I sucked in a breath and looked away. A reflex to try and escape an anxious situation.
"I win!" He shouted, throwing his hands up.
"I- no you cheated!" I replied back, all flustered from the move he just pulled.
"And how did I cheat?" He asked, raising an eye-brow. I looked away for a moment, wondering what to do. However Louis decided for me when he gripped my chin between his index finger and thumb and gently pulled my face to his, he stopped, just an inch away from my lips, his eyes looked from them and up to me. "Is this ok?" He whispered, almost inaudible. I nodded once and he encased my lips with his own. They fitted perfectly together as my hands tangled in his hair and his hands went to my hips, pulling me onto his lap as one single kiss turned to a make out session.
Of course a few minutes later we had to break apart for air. "Wow," he said breathlessly, resting his forehead against mine.
"Wow," I nodded in agreement. Also breathless. "I sure did miss out during those years," he smirked up at me. I rolled my eyes."Well we have lots of time to make up for it," I chuckled, before leaning away from him and fixing my hair, just a little flustered from the events before.
Somehow Louis and I went back to how it was before this kiss, throwing snarky jokes at each other and I slowly started to believe maybe this whole situation with death was a joke.
Until he left and I fell to the floor as pain rendered my arm useless when it finally numbed, I took deep breaths and looked around. What I saw made me gasp. There on my wrist was the number. 20 days. Lacey slowly shimmered to life before me, a cold scowl set on her face.
"Believe Annaliese. Or he will die."
"But why should I? What importance did he ever hold in my life until now?" I fired back, sick of being the one to deal with this.
"Because he is your soulmate."
This was childish behaviour. "Lies Lacey, sick lies. This has to be some wicked nightmare that I'll wake up from. Soulmates don't exist," I hissed back, gripping my wrist in one hand.
"Oh but they do Annaliese. I never got to meet mine. I only want you to keep yours."
I scowled at her response when her hand came out and gripped my throat, cutting off my breathing. "Annaliese Vera Monet. Stop being selfish and listen to me. If you let him die you will never love again. You will suffer more pain than what I am putting with you now," she shouted, I clawed at her frozen hands, she finally released me and I fell to the floor - scratching at my skin to get the air out quicker even if it didn't.
"Why Lacey?" I whispered. "Why the fuck are you so different now?"
"Because your being difficult and any wrong move will only result in consequences."
Consequences. I'm not fucking 5.
I nodded my head and rubbed at my temples. I couldn't just turn this down and ignore it. If I did, the consequence is that he dies and it's all on me. And I lose the guy that's starting to become my friend and maybe something more. If I make a wrong move something bad could happen.
I didn't want this but Lacey did say if I don't abide then I will suffer more pain after he dies than now.
"So do you accept the role of saving Louis Ezra Gray?"
Holy shit his name is hot.
"I have a choice?" I questioned, shocked she was letting me choose. She nodded.
"Fine. I will." I decided, no going back now. She dissolved into blue flakes as soon as the words left my mouth and I felt the same burning on my wrist. This time, I forced myself to look at what was happening. There I saw an invisible someone writing onto it with gold, the words 'Louis Gray'. I assumed I was the only one who could see it when I went to take a picture of it on my phone and nothing appeared on my wrist through the camera.
Well this is it. I was going to save Louis Gray and find out what was happening in his life to make him think of such ways to leave this life through suicide.
