27: The Mare and The Foal

As you and Alcina approach the dining parlor, joyous laughter carries into the halls. Alcina smiles down at you as you gleam with excitement. Moments later, you're standing in the doorway. Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela are at their usual seats. They giggle at each other, not yet noticing your presence. Alcina rests a hand on your shoulder and guides you into the room.

"Good morning, my dear daughters." Alcina greets the sisters. They turn to face her, beginning to speak in their usual unison.

"Good morning mo-" They notice you standing next to Alcina. "Y/N!" They chime with glee.

All three girls rise from their chairs and run over to you, embracing you in an excited group hug. They all giggle and talk over each other, mouths racing as they throw commentary and questions your way.

"Girls! One at a time please!" Alcina quiets them down.

"I'm so happy to see you!" Daniela coos. "The library has been SO boring without you."

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm glad to see you're alive." Cassandra chuckles.

"Welcome back, servant." Bela winks at you. "Your return has been long overdue."

"I'm glad to be back. And for some unknown reason, I'm glad to see all of your bloody smiling faces." You tease the girls. Daniela gives you a playful slap on your arm, Bela rolls her eyes, and Cassandra gives you a nonchalant flick of her hand.

"Alright, everyone please take your seats." Alcina cuts in while she has the chance. "Breakfast should be out shortly."

"Yes, Mother." The sisters coo together.

"This way, Y/N." Alcina scoots you forward. "You can sit next to me and Bela."

Alcina takes her place at the head of the table. On one side of her sits Cassandra and Daniela. On the other side, you sit beside Alcina, and Bela sits to your left. After you've all taken your seats, the kitchen doors swing open. Five maids carry out platters of food for each of you. Another maid carries out glasses of red liquid for Alcina and the girls, and a glass of juice for you. Once your food is placed in front of you, you all begin to quietly eat. It's been so long that you've tasted anything other than blood that you realize you're quickly devouring your food. The three sisters break out in a boisterous laughter once again.

"Geez, servant. I knew I was draining you like a pig, but I didn't know we were feeding you like one." Bela jokes.

"Leave her alone, Bela." Alcina chuckles too. "She's had nothing but blood for weeks. Although that sounds delightful to me, the girl needs her food." Alcina places her hand on yours. "Do slow down, my dear. We don't need you to choke." She winks.

"Sorry, my Lady. I guess I didn't realize how hungry I was." You blush, now feeling embarrassed.

"Eh, don't sweat it." Daniela says. In an attempt to make you feel better, she grabs a handful of food and shoves it into her mouth. Cassandra and Bela follow along. Soon, you're all bursting with laughter once again. Even Alcina joins in, failing to contain her amusement at her daughters actions.

"Alright, alright. That's enough." Alcina adjusts herself, pulling herself together. "Mind your manners, girls."

"Hey, I was just trying to help." Daniela chuckles. "Plus, I don't think I've heard you laugh that hard in years, Mother. You should try it more often."

Alcina smiles and rolls her eyes. She glances over at you, seeing your beaming smile as you and the girls continue talking. She sips her wine, enjoying the happy sight in front of her. Once she's finished her meal and her drink, she dismisses the girls from the table.
