The height from above the forest allows Alcina a wider view of the landscape below her. However, the rain pelting against her like rapid fire bullets does little for her ability to see through the showering haze. Unable to entirely rely on her eyesight, Alcina must harness her other adaptive senses. The rain covers your scent with an earthy mist, but Alcina can pick up on the faint smell of lavender. You've grown to find comfort in the gentle floral perfume, dousing yourself in the aroma any chance you get. It's familiarity belongs to Alcina, which makes you enjoy it all the more.

Alcina follows your scent, hopeful that it will lead her to you. In the distant horizon, Alcina can see the foggy outline of Mother Miranda's church. Her keen eyesight makes it appear much closer than it truly is. There's still time. Thunder rumbles around Alcina, vibrating against her massive body. Lightning follows seconds after, telling her that she's journeying into the eye of the storm. As the thunder pauses for a moment, a loud howl sounds from somewhere below her. Alcina comes to a standstill, surveying the land as her sprawling wings hold her in the air. Another howl breaks through the short silence before more thunder comes. Alcina spies a mangy mass within a small clearing. Devil dog. There's another figure standing in front of him, his large body blocking their way.

Alcina swiftly darts to the ground. Tree limbs snap and splinter as her body drops. Their broken branches fall to the ground, creating a shower of leaves drifting with them. Alcina lands directly behind Devil dog, letting out a bone chilling screech. You stand before her, body tenses and unmoving. You watch her shift from her dragon form back into her usual elegant yet powerful self. Completing her transformation, your eyes meet hers. Her chest heaves beneath her tattered gown, barely covering her body. Devil dog stands beside her, jaw gaping open as he gives you warning snarls.

"What the hell are you doing out here!?" You asks in a yell, speaking over the loudness of the storm.

"I should ask you the same thing!" Alcina hollers back.

"I'm doing what should have been done long ago!" You tell Alcina.

"No, your not." Alcina protests, taking cautious steps towards you. "You're not going anywhere near Miranda, Y/N. She'll take your life if you dare raise a hand to her."

Although Alcina knows Miranda can do no such thing without your father's knife, you're not aware of this. Her words are a hopeful attempt at adverting you from your barbaric plans.

"Why do you care!?" You question. "Mother Miranda only intends to take me from you in the end! This time for good! Do you hate me enough to let that happen!?"

"I have no choice, Y/N!" Alcina screams. "If I go against her, she'll destroy everything!"

Your heart pounds in your chest, emotions rising as Alcina slowly approaches you. Her concern in visible behind her firm expression.

"She already has!" You exclaim, voice nearly a cracking sob. "She stole everything from me! My memories. My life. My will. You."

Alcina pauses a few feet in front of you. Despite the heavy rain, she can see the tears fall from your reddened eyes.

"I'm right here, draga mea." Alcina's voice softens.

"WHY." You whimper.

"I can't let you do this." Alcina exclaims.

"Tell me the real reason you're here!" You yell, chest heaving.

"I can't knowingly allow you to stride into that church and slaughter Miranda in vengeful blood."

"For fuck sake! Why is it so hard for you to tell me the truth!?" You growl.

"Watch your mouth!" Alcina snarls.
