AUTHORS NOTE:
Just a forewarning, things are going to get a bit more intense and/or dramatic for a while. There's a lot that will be unraveled in the next few chapters. The story will most likely come to an end within the next month or less. I have the ending planned, but it's a matter of getting the story there in an orderly and thought out manner. I hope you've enjoyed Fair Maiden thus far, little birds!
Buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

When you wake, the sun is shining high in the clear morning sky. You urgently jolt from your comfort, realizing that you overslept. As you look around, you notice that you are still laying in Alcina's bed. However, Alcina is nowhere to be seen. You frantically rise from the bed, urging your body to shake off any lingering sleepiness. You race into your room and quickly dress yourself into your uniform. Once you're somewhat put together, you leave the chambers and race down the hall with quick paced steps. As you stomp through the corridors, an angered voice catches your attention.
"You will learn what it means to insult House Dimitrescu!" A familiar woman's voice growls.
"Let me go!" Another woman pleads in a sob.
A loud high pitched scream follows the sobs. You freeze in place, sudden fear washing over you. Heavy footsteps break into the hall as Alcina comes into view. Her dress is splattered with bright red. As she walks, she wipes her gloved hands on a white cloth. As she lifts her head, she pauses as she notices your unexpected presence. She quickly makes her way over to you, noticing your startled expression.
"Y/N, what are you doing out here?" She asks, grabbing your arms.
"My Lady, what's going on? Why are you covered in blood?" You question her, eyes wide as they observe the bloodied state of her gown.
"That's none of your concern, little one." Alcina exclaims, turning your body and leading you back where you came from. "Get started on your chores."
"But, My lady..." You begin to protest, but Alcina quickly silences you.
"Now is not the time to test my patience." She tells you in a firm tone, nudging you forward. "Take care of your chores. That is the only thing you need to concern yourself with."
"My lady, wait!"
You stop in your tracks, turning to face Alcina. Her expression shows that she is in no mood for your disobedience.
"What is going on!? What are you trying to hide from me?" You ask, standing your ground despite the glare Alcina is giving you.
"This is your last warning, Y/N." Alcina's voice slithers from her throat. "I suggest you don't disobey me."
"I'm not moving from this spot until you tell me what's going on."
Alcina's expression falls flat.
"Wrong answer." She hisses.
Alcina grabs your arm and jerks you into her. Your eyes slightly widen, shocked by her sudden lack of gentleness. This is not the same mistress you had fallen asleep next to last night. Her usual light amber eyes surge with daunting hints of vermillion as her patience wares thinner.
"I'm not scared of you." You mumble, trying to hide your very real fear from her.
"Oh, my dear..." Alcina's voice snakes from her throat. "You should be." She releases your arm, leaving a red handprint behind. "Run along little mouse, before my claws come out to play."
