"Find him and bring him to me." Alcina orders behind clenched teeth. "I want him alive...for now."
"Yes, Mother." Bela bows her head.
"Well, don't just stand there!" Alcina barks.
The girls instantly burst into a swarm of flies. Their buzzing bodies swarm up the stairs. Alcina turns to you once again.
"I must go." She tensely sighs. "Stay with Donna. I'll come back to you as soon as I can."
As she turns, you grab her wrist and hold her in place. You stand from your seat, pulling her down to you. Your hands grasp her face as you press your lips to hers in a deep kiss. She leans further into you, resting her hand on the small of your back. You pull yourself from her, gazing into her eyes.
"Be careful, Alcina." You whisper to her.
You release her face, allowing her to stand. With a slow nod, she turns and paces towards the stairs. Alcina's heavy footsteps stomp against the steps as she vanishes from your view. A door slams shut, telling you she's gone. You sit back onto the couch, cocooning yourself in the blanket Alcina had wrapped you in. The faint smell of jasmine and lavender tickles your nose. Savoring the smell, you nuzzle into the fabric as you pull your knees to your chest. A moment later, Donna returns. She holds a tray in her hands, cups of tea steaming on its surface resting next to a large glass of wine. She gives you a strange look when she notices you're alone.
"Where's Alcina?" Donna asks as she sets the tray on the table in front of you.
You lift your head from the blanket to speak.
"Ethan is here. She went to find him." You tell her.
"Oh dear." Donna sighs. "I do hope she can handle him."
"Not helping." You mumble, resting your head back into the soft fabric draped over your knees.
"I'm sorry dear." Donna sits on the couch next to you. "You must be quite overwhelmed."
You give her a soft shrug.
"You can talk to me, dear." Donna softly coos as she rubs your back. "I won't hide anything from you either. You can trust me."
You lift your head, intrigued by Donna's words. Donna notices your curious look and flashes you a gentle smile. She reaches out to the tray on the table. She grabs a cup of tea. Careful not to spill it, she slowly hands it to you.
"Drink." She places the cup in your hands. "It will help calm your nerves. It's my special blend of herbs. Lavender, chamomile, rosemary, and a few other things; all steeped in bubbling rose water."
"Thank you." You say quietly. You take a sip. The aromatic steam billows against your face. You can feel the heat travel down your throat and into your stomach.
"I heard you and Alcina while I was in the other room." Donna exclaims. "Does she always speak to you like that?"
"My mouth doesn't know how to remain shut, occasionally causing my words to get a rise out of her." You explain.
"I see." Donna sits forward, grabbing a cup of tea for herself. "And does Alcina frequently hide things from you?"
You furrow your brows, giving Donna a questioning look as she sips her tea.
"Do you know why Alcina is hiding you in here?" Donna peers at you as she takes another sip. You slowly shake your head. "I figured."
"What do you know, Donna?" You ask.
"I don't know as if I'm at liberty to tell you, dear. Alcina would have my head on a platter if I went against her wishes."
"Tell me." You say in a firm tone.
