You're awake, but at the same time, you're not. Everything around you is black, space entirely empty. Surrounded by complete darkness. Compared to the ear shattering screams that you heard only moments ago, everything is silent. If you had a pin, you could hear it drop. You shift from what you assume is ground, rising to your feet. As you stand, your heel crushes something. Something sharp. Glass. Glancing down, you see the shattered remains of the vial. A drop of violet liquid rests among to the fragments, glimmering in the darkness.
Breaking the silence, something shuffles around you. Startled, your body jolts. You stumble back, freezing when your body hits something solid. Hesitantly, your hand feels the surface. Cold. Smooth. A wall? More shuffling. Panic filling you, your eyes do what they can to scan the area. For a moment, you can almost make out a silhouette within the shadows. It's small, maybe standing a little under four feet. Your body goes stiff when you see the faint outline of a hand sheepishly wave at you. It's a person. A rather small one at that.
"Hello, Y/N." A mousey voice softly coos.
"H-how do you know my name?" You question, voice catching in your throat.
"I know everything about you, silly." The voice giggles. From the sound of it, it's a girl. "Allow me to officially introduce myself..."
The silhouette steps forward. When it's eyes flick up to you, the shadows seem to retreat. The space is filled with a violet glow, as are her eyes. You can see her. Clearly. She's a young girl, perhaps near the age of nine. She's scrawny, face almost gaunt. Her hair is long, falling past her shoulders in thin glossy strands of silver blonde. Her complexion is fair, much like yours. There are notable freckles peppered across her nose and cheeks. She greets you with a sweet smile.
"I'm Eva." She beams. "It's nice to finally meet you, Y/N."
"Eva? As in Miranda's daughter?" You question.
"That's correct." She chimes. Her smile seems to fade away at the mention of her mother.
"Eva, where am I? What happened to me?" You ask.
"You're in your head." She exclaims. "When you drank my essence, your body shut down and brought you here."
"But why?"
"You sure do ask a lot of questions, Y/N." Eva giggles. "You're here because of me. You made me whole again... Just like mother wanted."
Eva's words seem to grow softer. Her eyes drift away from you, falling to the floor. You peel your back from the wall, slowly stepping in her direction. She doesn't seem bothered by your nearing presence. You kneel down in front of her, attempting to match her short height. Her fingers fiddle with her purple dress. You let out a little breath, realizing that's exactly what you do when your upset or lost in thought. You gently grab her hand, holding it in yours.
"I fidget when I'm upset too." You flash her a meek smile as she looks up at you. "Are you not happy your mother wants to bring you back?"
Eva slightly shakes her head.
"Can I tell you something?" She asks.
"Of course." You hum.
"I'm tired." She tells you, voice hushed and gentle. "I want to sleep, to rest after all these years. But mother..."
"She won't let you." You utter.
"She keeps giving me a new host, none who are strong enough for my soul. Until she found you, that is." Eva exclaims. "But, you're different from the rest. Even from Alcina, who mother thought was going to be the strongest host."
"Alcina? You know her?" You question.
"She's a lovely woman." Eva coos, smile spreading across her face again. "She's a little rough around the edges, but she's gentle at heart."
