Chapter Thirty-Eight: Staten Island

Percy

July Thirtieth was the day we began moving our things over to our new house in Staten Island. After much debate a few months ago we'd picked a house with an indoor pool, plenty of room for guests, and we lived right near the Richmond Country Club.

"Girls, I specifically told you not to back your bedding. You still need it for tonight." Annabeth ran her hand through her hair, stressed.

"Why can't we just sleep in our new house tonight?" Asked Annie. "We'd just come back in the morning to meet the new people and give them the keys."

"Sweetie, no. We are bringing over most stuff today, then we are coming back to get some rest, then moving all the big stuff and giving the keys over." I explained.

Annie sighed as she went to unpack her bedding and put it back on her bed. The almost-eleven-year-old was as dramatic as she was adorable.

Rosie stayed behind, looking up at us. "Are we going to be safe on Staten Island?"

Annabeth gaze softened, "Of course we will be safe. We've already got a security system set up, and the neighborhood we're moving into is great. Jason and Piper live down the road, and Leo and Calypso not far from that. I promise we will do everything we can to make our home safe."

"The police department knows about the... situation, and we have buttons all over the house that call the police." I explained. "However, they have covers that you've got to get off with a code because we are all clumsy."

Rosalie nodded, reassured. She ran off to her room to finish packing.

"Did I mention that I love you?" Annabeth grinned, wrapping her arms around my waist.

"Hang on let me think–no, I don't think so. Can you say it again?"

"I love you, Seaweed Brain."

The boxes were endless, even with the help of our friends. Currently, Annabeth and Leo were arguing over what sheets to put on the guest bed.

"The fish duvet goes with the fish sheets, and those are going on Annie's bed. The Llama sheets are going in Rosalie's room. Therefore, the striped sheets go on the guest bed!" She argued.

Leo pointed over to the black duvet, "what about that set?"

I walked over to the box and began digging around in it, until I found the correct bed set. "These are our sheets, Leo." I held up the jet black sheets.

"Those look like the kind of sheets that a hotel would have in the sex suite."

"I mean, you're not wrong, but they are so soft!" I grinned at Annabeth's exasperated expression.

"Whatever. I think we might be able to hand over the apartment keys tonight after," she eyed Estelle, who was helping Rosie bring in her clothing.

"What's with the look?" Piper walked up to us.

"Nothing,"  Annabeth said.

I put the bedding back in the box and began to carry it up the stairs. As I walked upstairs, I thought about why Annabeth and I made the decision to move here specifically. First, we needed more room for the future, especially since we wanted to adopt a child in the future and we needed a guest room. Then there was the fact that both of us missed living in a house. Lastly, we wanted to live closer to our friends and our jobs.

I found Annabeth's and my room and quickly made the bed. I then went down the hall to check on Annie.

When I walked in, she already had her room mostly put together. The bed had been set up earlier, and she'd filled it with her many pillows and blankets.
