Chapter Forty-Nine: Night Before

Annabeth

The day before the wedding was almost as stressful as I thought the actual day would be. After Piper had insisted we keep going with the wedding, we tried to keep our minds off Jason and busy ourselves. Setting up our venue didn't take too long with the help of Jeremy, Hazel, Thalia, and Leo.

I stood at the edge of the room, biting my nails, something I hadn't done in ages. Piper wrapped her arm around my shoulders, hand on her hip.

"Stop biting, you are going to ruin your nails before we even get them done." she scolded.

"Sorry," I sighed. "Everything just has to look perfect."

"It will," she reassured me. "As I said, if I have to, I'll marry you too myself." she smiled, a rare sight from the past few days.

"I love you so much, Pipes." I pulled my friend into a tight embrace.

"I love you too." she was a few inches shorter, so she buried her head in my chest. When she looked up, she smirked. "Not nearly as much as he does, though." she gestured towards Percy. He was standing across the room, giving us his dazzling smile that always managed to melt my heart.

"You are absolutely positively fine with all this so soon, right?" I made sure one last time.

Piper sighed, shaking my shoulders. "Jason hated sitting around and being useless, so why should we?"

My mouth formed a thin line as I thought about how immobilized I'd become after Rosalie's staged death. "Thanks."

"No problem. Now, as your unofficial-unpaid wedding planner, I say that you need to go home and get some rest, then we will all go out to dinner just like you planned, and I'm probably going to cry a lot." she spun me around and pushed me out the door.

"See you tonight." I waved goodbye, gesturing for Percy to come with me.

"Make sure to actually rest, you two!" Jeremy called from his position on a ladder.

"Fuck off, Jeremy." Percy rolled his eyes. Over the past few months, Percy had become good friends with Jeremy, making them more than comfortable around one another.

As we made our way out to the car, I texted Sarah to let her know that we were done and would pick the girls up soon.

"You know what?" Percy asked me when we were comfortably inside the car.

"What?" I asked, looking over at him. His eyes were brighter than normal, possibly from nerves.

"We are getting married." He kissed my forehead and smiled against it. I kissed his neck, shivering from the cold.

"It's pretty great, isn't it?"

"Definitely."

The house was strangely quiet when we returned home with Annie and Rosalie. They were exhausted from the morning they'd had with their friends.

"Did you two eat lunch with Ben and Hadley?" I asked.

"Yeah. Sarah made mac and cheese. It was so good." Rosie cuddled up next to me, something she hadn't done in a long time.

"What's up?" I asked her, brushing her hair out of her eyes. Both Percy and Annie had left the room, presumably to the kitchen.

She closed her eyes sighed. "I'm worried about tomorrow. About all the things that could go wrong."

"What is it that you think will go wrong?"
