Chapter Forty-Seven: Betrayal of the Mind and Body.

Annabeth

Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and pretty soon there were four days before the wedding. With only four days, we were done planning. Even though everything is already verified, Jeremy was certainly keeping our phones busy.

I was a little scared of the what-ifs floating around in my head. What if the venue was double booked and there was another wedding going on when ours was about to? What if everybody got food poisoning? All these questions floated around in my head around five in the morning on December sixth. Sighing, I lazily rolled out of bed and trudged to the bathroom to shower.

The water was scalding against my skin, yet I couldn't care less. I was tired, my back hurt, and my hair was disgusting. Most days, I had no idea how Percy put up with me.

By the time I was done, it was nearing six and I doubted anyone was up yet. We'd pulled the girls from school for the week so that they could mentally prepare(after some constant begging).

I threw on my robe and lay next to Percy, playing with his hair. There was a small dribble of drool down his chin, one of the things about him I'd come to love. As I wiped the dribble away, his eyes fluttered open.

"You're up early," he mumbled sleepily.

"I couldn't sleep."

"Why not?"

I shrugged, continuing to toy with his hair. "Just worried, I suppose."

He nodded, then sat up. His bare torso was muscular and smooth. It was well defined, even in the dim room. "I love you," he pulled me into a hug.

"Mm, I love you." I kissed Percy briefly before getting up again.

"Come back..." he whined.

"I'll be back in a minute. I just need coffee first." I smiled, walking out of our bedroom.

I heard him mumble something about coffee as the bed creaked and he ran after me. We went downstairs in silence. The lights in the kitchen were on, which was strange since I turned them off last night. I flicked the second set of lights on, then I nearly passed out. Estelle was sitting at the counter drinking a cup of coffee and scrolling through Facebook on her laptop.

"Oh, good morning." she waved at the two of us. "I made you coffee. Might be cold though, since I made it at three."

Percy calmly took ahold of his sister's shoulders. "I love you to bits, but what the fuck, Estelle?"

"Chill, let me explain. I was up trying to finish this paper for my theatre history class, and there was this weird noise coming from the roof. So I go up there to check it out, and on the roof next door this couple was going at it so hard I could see the guy's balls shaking from fifteen feet away. I'm scarred for life, so I go back downstairs. Twenty minutes later, they are still up there. I couldn't focus on my paper, so I did the logical thing and crashed at your place for the night." she explained herself.

"You could have called?" I suggested the obvious.

"I did." she shrugged. "But you didn't pick up, so I just came over anyway. You guys have great coffee." then she frowned. "How's Annie? She seemed pretty mad when I talked to her a few days ago."

Percy bit his lip and sat down next to his sister. "She says she's fine but...I don't know she just hasn't been acting the same."

I leaned against the counter and sipped at my coffee. I couldn't blame Annie for how she reacted. I'd reacted similarly when my dad and Helen got married two weeks after I learned of their relationship. I just hoped that Annie was able to repair her relationship with Rachel.
