Chapter Nine:

(While Annabeth is with Ken)

Percy

"Annie, I'm serious. You've got to get ready for bed now. It's getting late."

"But it's only nine."

"And you have school tomorrow, and I have work tomorrow. So, therefore, it would be a good thing to go to bed."

"And it's a late-entry day, so therefore, I don't have to get up early." Annie negotiated.

"But you still have school. Come on. I'll read you a chapter of The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe."

Annie hesitated for a moment before giving in. "Fine." We went upstairs and into her room, and I found the book on her nightstand and began to read.

"Chapter Two: What Lucy Found There. 'Good evening.' said Lucy."

I lay down in my bed, pulling out my phone. By now, it was about ten, but I wasn't the least bit tired. I groaned as I saw that Rachel was calling me.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hey...can I come in? We need to talk." I got up and looked out the window, confused. Sure enough, there was Rachel, pacing the short driveway in front of my house.

"I'll be down in a minute." I hung up. I threw on a shirt and went downstairs, stepping out onto the porch. "Hey," I greeted her.

"I'm sorry," she looked at me, tears in her eyes.

I was taken aback. "W-What?"

"I said I'm sorry. The way I've been for the past few years–it hasn't been good for any of us."

"Slow down. What are you talking about?"

Rachel took a deep breath. "I want us to get back together. We'd do it right this time. We could be a family again. You, me, Annie? We could make it work." My eyes widened in surprise. Then I did something that I didn't expect to do. I started laughing.

"I-I'm sorry but...you don't actually think we could make each other happy, do you? Rachel, we were miserable before." Rachel clenched her jaw.

"I was serious. I think that if we try, we could make it work."

"We've tried before. And it never ended up well."

"Percy...I love you! That's all that matters, right?" and she kissed me. I pulled away, slightly dazed.

"Rachel–I–"

"Shh..." she put a finger to my lips. My heart pounded in my ears. And I was helpless. I kissed her, taking her by surprise. Our lips knew each other's, after years of mapping them out. "Percy," she whispered against me. I pulled away, sighing.

"You should go." I turned away. Rachel was silent for a moment.

"Fine. But if you ever decide you want me–I'll be here."

So I know it's short, but I had no inspiration for a Percy chapter, and I kinda need to just get one over with so...I came up with this?
