Chapter Ten: His Lies
Annabeth
I sat under my kitchen table, working on yet another set of blueprints, trying to keep my mind from straying to the events of the previous night. I heard a knock at my door. Not bothering to answer it, I shouted, "Come in!" The door opened, and I heard the last person I wanted to see right now calling my name.
"Annabeth?" Ken called. I sighed, getting out from under the table and walking into the entryway.
"Ken," I said, stoney-faced.
"Hey, Annabeth. How are you? I saw that you left early last night." I was marveled at how he could be a completely different person in front of his friends. I laughed bitterly.
"Why did I leave? I left because Noah wanted to have sex with me, and you were busy with Stacy anyway." I crossed my arms.
"Annabeth, Stacy and I have been friends forever. And I'll talk to Noah. I promise." he sounded so genuine.
"You do that," I said. "Until then, I don't particularly want to see you." I turned away and started to walk back to the kitchen.
"Wait–I love you!" I stopped dead in my tracks.
"W-W-" I stuttered, turning back to Ken.
"I said I love you. Please, give me another chance. I'll do better." I smiled a little, convinced that he was being truthful.
"Okay. I–I love you too." I wasn't sure what else to say at this point.

"You know, I haven't been to one of these clubs since–" I stopped, remembering the time Percy and I had come to this exact place just over a year ago.
"Since when?" Ken asked.
"Never mind. I must have been thinking of a different place."
"I brought you here because I want you to have fun. You seem too tense. I won't even drink so I can drive."
"I can't let you do that. We could just call an Uber or something."
"Why don't we spend the night?" he smiled.
I shook my head. "I-I've got plans tomorrow. I'm sure you'll be busy too..." he sighed.
"Okay. We'll call an Uber. For now, let's have fun together."

I sipped lightly on my drink, regretting I agreed to come. Currently, I had no idea where Ken was. The last time I saw him, it was midnight, and he was on his eighth drink. It was now one. I sighed in frustration and set my drink down on the counter of the bar. I walked off to the ladies' room, not even trying to look for Ken. He could be anywhere at this point, and he wasn't withholding his statement from earlier, about how we would have fun together.
I walked into the restroom and saw two girls sitting on the counter, gossiping. The one with black hair saw me and called me over.
"So have you seen that dude with brown hair and a bit of a stubble? He's got sexy blue eyes, and he was so sweet to me! See? I've got this picture of us together." She showed me a picture. I saw the girl with...Ken. And they were kissing.
"Was he pretty drunk?" I asked.
"So drunk!" the other girl giggled. "He gave me his phone number, too."
"LUCKY!" the black-haired one wailed.
"Um–I'm going to go. Have fun." I walked away, madder than last night. After nearly twenty minutes of searching, I found Ken amongst a group of men sitting on a lounge couch, drinking.
"Ken?" I asked.
"Oh, hey babe. Having a good time?" his speech was slurred.
"I think it's time to go. Come on." I hoisted him up and dragged him out of the club. I stopped at the front desk. I'd decided that I didn't want to see Ken again. Not after this. He said he'd do better. Instead, he left me. "He needs a room. What's your cheapest available room?" I asked. The guy on duty looked up.
"Aren't you that girl that was here with that guy with black hair last year or something?"
"I don't know. Can you just get him a room?" the guy sighed and typed a few things into his computer.
"Room 213 is available for $80 per night."
"Thanks. This will be the only night." I found Ken's wallet in his pockets and paid with his card. I wasn't wasting my money on him. I got the room key and I pulled Ken along the elevator and pressed the correct button going to floor two.
When we arrived at the room, I unlocked the door and dropped Ken on the bed. I looked around for a moment and found a piece of the hotel paper and a pen.
Ken~
Last night was your last chance, and you blew it. You broke your promise, about doing better. Please, don't come to see me anymore. I don't want to see you again. Consider this my way of breaking up with you.
~Annabeth
I wrote. I stuck the note on the nightstand along with a cup of water and left the room, leaving the room key on the dresser.

So I know that I said I would be on hiatus for a little while, but I got this burst of inspiration. I feel like most people will be extremely mad at the beginning, then do a little dance around the room at the end.
Love y'all
