"So does it annoy you that his fans ruined your date?"

Y/n stares at her phone. She knows what she wants to say. But also knows that no matter what she tells Max, it will go back to Lando. "No. It's just frustrating. He's never here for long and I don't see how much more I can take. I get pushed out the way and he doesn't say no to them." Y/n sighs as she knows it basically means the end for them.
She sits waiting on Lando calling or texting. He's not the ghosting type. But y/n wouldn't blame him.

But he doesn't. No sign of any text or call. "Are you free today? Or are you at uni? ❤️" A red heart. Now that's a new one from him. "Just at home studying today. Why? No MTC?" She is setting up her table for the day, even already having her lunch premade. "Nah. I have a workout then I can come over if you want some company. We need to talk.❤️" It takes all of her will power to not text Max and ask him what he had told Lando.
Even though he has just went for a work out, Lando being Lando. Goes and gets donuts and coffee to take to y/n's.
Y/n is surprised when he rocks up to her door, with the goodies and some flowers. Her flat mate lets him in, as they leave.

"Hey beautiful. You look stressed." He says, as he walks in and sees her. "Lando. Hi. When did you get keys cut." Lando laughs. "Can you stop for a sugar break?" Y/n nods her head, getting up and hugging him.
"How are you?" She asks him. He looks at her. "Confused. Max said we need to talk. But wouldn't tell me what about."
Y/n sighs. "Oh. Depends what you've said to him." She says cheekily. Not meaning to put the blame on him.
Lando takes a sip of his coffee. "I said I think I should invite you to a weekend. But he said that I should speak to you, as you might have a different idea. What have you two been talking about?"
Y/n wants the ground to swallow her up. "Eh. Possibly the opposite. I'm struggling, in all honesty." Lando stares at her, worrying he had read the signs wrong.
They always had an open dialogue, he loved treating her like a Queen. He even often slipped her over money when she said she was going out with friends.
"Why? Have I done something wrong? Is there any other new rumours about me and other girls again?" Y/n shakes her head. "You know I don't pay attention to rumours." Y/n says, her own voice starting to break. "Your amazing Lando you really are. I'm grateful for the times we've had. But it's just something small. That's just gotten bigger." Lando sits trying to revisit every conversation they've had. Has he missed something.
"So what? Your breaking up with me?" He asks her straight.

His heart breaking when y/n nods her head. "I can't see how we can keep going. I'm social. But we can never just be us when we are out. Conversations are hard to have and I often feel singled out. Last night was kind of the last straw. Two hours!! I stood in the freezing cold. We missed out on the ice skating.. the Ferris wheel." Lando's eyes narrow, his whole demeanour changing.
"Are you being serious? You want to break up with me over my niceness?" He moans at her.
"Niceness? Lando!! It's not like that. I stood like a twat, waiting on you. You could've said no sorry. How about be nice to me? I was the only person there with you. It's not like other people were there. It was obvious and the girls knew that, so just wanted to push a wedge."
He shakes his head. "Jealous of my fans?" He shouts at her, accusing her rather than listening.
"Fine. We are done then." He yells at her, but doesn't know what he should do. Storming out seems excessive. But he is the one crying. "I was wanting to tell you I love you. Not this." Lando closes his eyes. Hoping his own emotions will stop.
"I'm sorry. It's hard. put yourself in my position last night. We had planned a cute Christmas night." Y/n says, but Lando groans louder. "Stop. I get it. It's not ideal. I'm a nightmare to be with." He shouts at her.
"I'm sorry." Y/n mumbles into her cup. "For what it's worth.. I do love you and being with you. Inside where it's just our flat mates that can annoy us. But being with you outside is just too hard for me." Y/n cries.

But Lando has seen red and there isn't a way forward for them. "I need to go..." Lando says and gets up and leaves.
Sitting in his car, he calls Max. "Did you know? She wanted to break up?"
"No. Well yeah. But I thought she'd sleep and change her mind. What's happened, you sound weird." Max asks him.
Lando thumps his head on the window. "I.. we broke up mate. Which I'm sure you'll probably have her texting you going mad." Lando cries out.
He jumps, when he gets a knock at the window. Looking up he can see y/n at the window.
"Come back in. I can't let you just run away from me. We need to talk without shouting. Please?" Lando nods his head.

He follows her back upstairs, remembering to hang up on Max. He sits on the sofa, not quite as confident as before. "So what now?" He can't help but still strop. "Well I think we need to talk... we can't just break up. I know it's not entirely your fault. But you just need to say no. If they choose not to be a fan if you say no, then it's on them. It doesn't make you a bad person. They need to accept some boundaries with you."
Lando shakes his head. "No. I can't just say no. Not because you want me too. Either you take me with them or you don't have me at all." Y/n looks at him.
"I understand how you feel. But my own feelings need to be validated too."
Lando sits and thinks for a minute. That soon ends up being more than five minutes. The atmosphere gets awkward and neither of them want to talk.

"I just don't see how we can come back from this." He eventually says. Y/n sits staring at the blank tv screen. "Uhmmm okay. I can't fight you on what you want." She says.
His eyes are dark and his face unhappy.
"I don't know what I want right now. I came here wanting to make the next step with you, being more official and able to show the world my love. Baby you have no idea how much I am actually fucking crushed." He gets up and starts to pace. Annoyed at himself as he can't choose what he wants. Or what is best for him, her, them.
"Can we not just try and see what happens between now and the start of the new season? I'm not flying off again until New Year's Eve and even then you were coming with us."
Y/n sits and silently cries.
"I don't know if I want to. What if we just fight. Or worse I feel lonely, whilst away from home."
Lando shakes his head. "We won't. You won't. There is more people than just me and I don't want to just give up. Please give it a try. For me, baby." Y/n hates seeing him like this, begging.
