60- we can never just be friends after that.
86- I have wanted this for so long.

After his homecoming from the Asian formula regional. He won, so his family and friends sorted a little night to celebrate him.
But now waking up, after all the fun is over, he knows what happened and who he brought home.
But she is gone.
Left without a trace.

Walking around topless and more than a little confused. Before he can even say it. Pascale gets there first.
"I heard her leave at 6/630. Maybe she has work or something." Arthur shakes his head. He knows y/n a lot. He knows she wouldn't go out and come home with him, if she had work in the morning.
"Maybe I was just rubbish.. or didn't give her enough space..."
His mum sighs, making them both coffees. "Or maybe she couldn't sleep? Stop the self depreciation. A pity party doesn't suit you, especially for one."
Arthur looks at her smiling, shaking his head. His mum the best advice giver.

He sits texting y/n again and again. Waiting for a response, but it is complete radio silence.
He gets even more annoyed when Charles sends him a photo of y/n out with her friends, having brunch.
"Will I speak to her?" Charles offers, to help.

Y/n, sits with her friends and notices Charles walking into the restaurant to pick food up.
Secretly hoping he doesn't see her. Or want to speak to her.
"Oi." He shouts as he notices her friends turning to look at him.
"Hi?" Y/n says trying to sound innocent. "Can I speak to you?" Her friends have quickly went quiet, not wanting to say anything stupid in front of him.
"Not really. I'm out with friends." Charles almost laughs, at least she is keeping up her facade of being rude.

"What would your dad say now Huh? Would he be proud of you?" Charles can't help himself, his little brother down after his amazing Asian season.
"You can't say that to her!!" Her friends chime in for her.
"What? My dad? That died five years today..." Charles closes his eyes quickly. He knew that y/n and Arthur met at a bereavement therapy group for teens and knew that they shared the loss of their dad when her.

"I'm sorry... I need to go." Charles says quickly retracing his steps.
"See since you are here and she won't do it. Tell Arthur to give her breathing space!! Yeah? She doesn't need a clingy one night stand annoying her today." One of the girls that Charles doesn't recognise shouts at him.

Charles heads out and drops the food off at his own apartment before running over to Arthur's and his mums house.
"Arthur. I messed up. I really messed up." Arthur looks up from his phone.
"What? With what?" Their mum comes to join them, before Charles even starts his story.
"What have you done?" Arthur starts to laugh not thinking about Charles being in the same place as y/n. "Y/n might not speak to you again, I maybe words things properly... And she got mad." Their mum looks at them. "Did you not think to just not say anything to her? It is the anniversary of her father's passing. I forgot and remembered whilst in the shower." Charles looks down, wincing in pain. "Yeah I know. I got told that, after mentioning her Dad to her." Pascale audibly gasps at Charles. "I hope you apologised Charles. Maybe that is why she ran out early Arthur to be there with her family. Maybe call her and see how she is feeling with Charles outburst."

Charles shakes his head. "I wouldn't do that either. One of the girls referred to you as the clingy one night stand. I definitely did not help that." Arthur sighs. "So what do I do?" Arthur asks them.  Confused as to why Charles had to get involved. He leaves it for a while before texting her again. In return he is happy that she replies to him. "Yeah I am okay. I shouldn't have run out but really didn't want the awkward morning after stuff and I wanted to respect your Mum." It is nothing like their usual texting to and fro. But it is at least something and acknowledging the fact that they did spend the night together.

But it is very much strained for days. Arthur misses their typical conversations and hates that he can't be there to support her, during the time that he knows how she feels. On a run down by the beach, Arthur spots her. She's alone and just staring out at sea.
"Hey.. You okay?" He asks her as soon as he is by her side. He notices that she has been crying. "No you're not..." he says softly at her and pulling her into his chest. "Remember I know you. Better than most." His grip tightens around her, when she starts to shake in his hold, her sobs becoming more obvious. "Will we head up? Back to mine. Not for anything. Just to get you somewhere more private?" Arthur asks her knowing his house is empty.

He manages to convince y/n to go with him. She sits at the kitchen counter, head in her hands crying. He's never really seen her this bad before. "What is it?" He asks her, putting his arm around her again. But she shrugs him off.
"Is it me?" He asks, worrying that he's done something to upset her.
"Kinda. But kinda not. It's just everything. From the other night, Charles confronting me in the restaurant... Oh you can tell him his money has went to charity. We don't need him to pay for our food. And my Dad."

Arthur looks at her confused. He wasn't aware that Charles had paid for their bill in the restaurant, after upsetting her.
"He didn't know! Honest. I forgot myself, being on too much of a high from the win... but I'm still here. I'm still your friend." He says before wanting to take it back. He knows he wants more. A lot more.
"Friends? What friends fuck and go back to normal. None that's how many. We can't just go back to normal Arthur. We can never just be friends after that..."
Arthur smiles at her, which doesn't help her mood.
"Will you stop!!! It's not funny. I need you and I hate admitting that. You know how low I've been since my dad." He nods his head.

"Yeah. And? It doesn't mean I won't ever be there now for you. Y/n. I wanted the other night to happen. In Dubai all i wanted was you to be there! Enjoying the time with me there." He pauses thinking about how to word what is going through his head.
"We met in such a weird way. But I've wanted this, for such a long time. I've wanted you since I met you. You brighten up my day, you helped me along with Charles to get to where I am now in racing... I love you. I love you... y/n." He says shocked at his own words.
"Stop crying about Charles, I'll speak to him. You and I are good. Whatever we are now, friends.. more. Or even a lot more than friends. Your dad wouldn't want you crying so much, would he?" Y/n shakes her head. Arthur holds her face with both hands and wipes away her tears.
"So what happens now?" She asks him, her still shaky.

He shrugs. "I don't know. I was supposed to be training... now all I want to do is snuggle up and watch a Disney film with you and eat loads." He smiles, knowing that's the way to her heart. Disney films and food. "I'm here for good.. remember that." Arthur says, not expecting her to kiss him. "I love you too." She breathes between kisses, as the passion between them is back and very much electric. Picking her up to head to his room, they don't ever think twice.

Only when they are back on the sofa and giggling when Pascale asks how Arthur's training had went.
