A/N : Takes place post season 1

Vi and Caitlyn had ran for their lives as soon as they saw Jinx shoot the bomb towards the Council building.

Neither knew the full scope of the bomb, of course. But they also didn't want to stick around to find out. Cause, sure, maybe it would just blow up the Council building (not that it would be ideal, but at least they would be a safe distance away), but it may also be a town levelling nuke, in which case they'd be at higher risk of being blown to smithereens. Jinx's handiwork had never been too strong when she was little, but Vi also knew that she was a lot different now. Sure, her nail bombs as a kid could barely knock out one guy, but now she was a well known terrorist and had blown up a lot of valuable shit.

So, they ran.

Or, Vi ran while helping Caitlyn limp along. The topsider still hadn't really recovered from Jinx's attack. Hell, Vi would probably be in bad shape too if that had been her, but the main difference was that Vi was used to physical pain. She was the girl who had still performed parkour even with a severe stab wound. Caitlyn, for all her talents, just wasn't used to that kind of pain, so it was harder for her to fight through it, and Vi didn't want her to push her limits.

Thankfully for them, it hadn't been a nuke, but they were still both glad to be out of the building. As much as Vi loved her sister, the truth was that she was afraid of her now. This wasn't the sweet little Powder she had grown up with, no. This was Jinx now- A mentally unstable woman with a scary amount of access to weaponry. Even if Vi could manage to subdue her enough to get some help (or at least stop hurting people), she'd be risking her life in the process, and she was too exhausted for that at the moment.

Once they were safely away from the building that Jinx was in, Vi sat Caitlyn down against a wall. Her hands were shaking, but she pulled an old napkin from her pocket and gave it to Caitlyn to treat the bloody nose she had gotten when Jinx hit her with the hilt of her gun. "Thanks" Caitlyn said softly as she held the napkin in place. Soon enough, her nose stopped bleeding and she quietly put the napkin down next to her.

Vi was still kneeled in front of her, shaking. Her eyes seemed lost, almost as though she wasn't really there or didn't know where she was. Caitlyn frowned as she saw the state that the girl in front of her was in. "Hey" she said gently, cupping her hands around Vi's. She had seen Vi panicked before, back when she was tending to her stab wound, but those had only been very brief flashes. It hurt seeing her reduced to a shaky mess, but she also supposed it made sense. They were finally in a place where they could just be safe for a while, so now Vi's brain could fully process everything... And it was crashing down on her.

Vi stumbled back, falling to the ground as her breath picked up. Caitlyn pushed past the growing headache that had arisen due to her injury and helped her girlfriend to sit up, leaning her against a dumpster. Tears were beginning to form under her eyes, and she seemed so lost. Her hands were tightly clamped over her ears, as though to block out how loud her thoughts had become. Caitlyn was a bit worried as she looked on, but she kept a calm demeanor to avoid making Vi spiral more.

"Vi, I'm right here" the topsider said gently, placing a cautious hand on the other girl's shoulder. Vi's eyes darted to her for a moment before quickly darting away to focus on some other thing. She kept looking around frantically, as though trying to figure out where she was or what was going on. All the while, her quick breathing grew to desperate wheezes as she hopelessly gasped for air. "Hey" Caitlyn said in a calm voice that helped to ground the girl slightly. Vi couldn't entirely make out what she was saying due to her hands blocking out noise, but the tone of it was enough to make Vi lower said hands.

"I need you to breathe for me, okay?" Caitlyn coaxed gently, cupping the panicked girl's hands once again to stop them shaking. Vi seemed to calm down slightly at the touch as she processed what Caitlyn had said with a small, fragile nod. Caitlyn smiled and took a deep breath in, which Vi shakily attempted to follow, but got stuck a few times. The topsider held her breath for a few moments, which Vi actually was able to copy (and helped her calm down a fair bit more). Then, she exhaled, which Vi shakily copied. They repeated this for a while. Caitlyn was willing to do it for as long as it took for Vi to calm down, and eventually she did.

Once Vi was calm enough to no longer need one on one assistance, Caitlyn sat next to her, allowing her to lean on her shoulder as she fully calmed down. The two just sat like that for a while- Vi breathing slowly and Caitlyn just taking in their surroundings. They seemed to be in a lower class town, while still being topside. The type of place where people of the undercity could hang around at night, but still keeping topside residents who couldn't afford a nicer place.

"Thanks, cupcake" Vi broke the silence once she had fully calmed down. Caitlyn nodded with a small noise of acknowledgement. "You want to talk about it?" the blue haired one asked, wrapping an arm around her girlfriend. Vi shrugged. "I mean..." she started carefully. Caitlyn allowed her to find her words. "I guess I'm just- I think I was just processing... Well, everything- And I'm still kind of freaked out about it I guess, but... Hey, at least I'm back to normal, huh?"

"Anyone would be a bit panicked after that, especially someone like you who's been through so much" Caitlyn said softly. Vi let out a big exhale, not sure how to respond. Caitlyn didn't push her to respond. She had no point in doing so, nor did she want to freak out her girlfriend anymore. And, so, the two sat in silence, listening to the faint sound of the panicked masses in Piltover as they reacted to the explosion of the Council building. "Do you want to go see the damage?" Caitlyn asked after a moment, gesturing to the billowing smoke coming from the city. Vi sighed. "Can we just stay like this for a while?"

"Of course" Caitlyn smiled. "We can stay here for as long as you need"
