A/N : A small fix-it of episode 1x06 because my heart can't handle that Rue had that whole ass breakdown in the bathroom ALONE- I simply refuse. My heart can't take it. Also I haven't written Rue being comforted yet and that is a damn shame
Rue found herself in the bathroom, all by herself.
There was so much going on and she was too fucking sober to just ignore all of it, meaning she had to experience it all in full force- Jules had gotten drunk and was being weird. Everyone was caught up in the life of the party but her. Hell, even her little conversation with Fez had just left her feeling guilty. She didn't know how to process any of it, and all that she could think was that she was burdening Lexi, who was basically chaperoning her to make sure she didn't relapse. That and also Jules was scaring her.
She shut the bathroom door, not even bothering to lock it. If anyone happened to stumble across her, they'd probably just walk out in a drunken haze as soon as they saw another person in there anyways. Besides, shutting the door was the last thing on her mind anyway. Especially as she sunk to the floor, sobs wracking her body as she could no longer keep the emotions bottled up.
The door opened and she shakily looked over to see a false beard and afro- Lexi- Standing in the doorway, looking down at her with a concerned expression. Rue decided she didn't care if Lexi saw her like this. It wasn't really any worse than when she'd had her piss in a Tylenol bottle, or when she had snapped at her not long after. At least Rue was sober now, right? That was an improvement from those other times.
Lexi shut the bathroom door, locking it this time, and sat next to her shaking friend. Rue tried to quiet her sobs for Lexi's sake, but that was to no avail as she just continued to cry, pulling on her suit in an attempt to self-soothe. She could hardly even breathe, she was so upset. Lexi just rubbed calming circles on her back. "You're okay" she said gently to the shaking girl. "It's okay. Just breathe"
"But it's not, though" Rue countered, her voice shaking far more than she would like to admit. Lexi didn't respond, instead just allowing Rue the space to talk. "It's not okay. Nothing about anything is okay" she continued, running a hand through her hair. "Jules is fucking drunk- I didn't even know she drank alcohol- Something is up with her and she won't tell me what it is, and now I..." she trailed off, her face suddenly more depressed than anything. "I'm a burden. I'm sorry"
"Rue..."
"I am" Rue insisted. "I'm a burden with my fucking drug problems and you should be out having fun at the party, but instead you're here dealing with my dumbass-"
"RUE!" Lexi cut her off, quickly apologizing when she saw Rue's panicked expression. "Sorry, I needed to get your attention" she continued with an apologetic smile. "Listen to me, Rue. You are not a burden. I'd rather be in here helping you than out there with a bunch of drunk teenagers I hardly know anyway" she explained, getting a small and fragile chuckle out of the other girl. "It's okay. You're okay"
Rue couldn't muster up any more than another pitiful sob as she leaned against her friend.
"You're okay, Rue" Lexi told her softly. "I love you"
