A/N : FTM!Silco. Takes place vaguely before episode 4. Inspired by the fact that Jinx would do his eye needle thing. Oh, and obvious trigger warning for needles. I also kind of wrote this just to spite someone who got VERY pissed about this headcanon over on AO3, so that's neat

Jinx lied down quietly in the small attic space above Silco's office, fiddling with some gadget she had taken up there.

While she usually preferred to stay in her strange workspace, she still liked to occasionally hang around her father's office while he did his paperwork and told off Sevika. Besides, she had to be in there once a day anyways to do his eye injection. He was fully capable of doing that himself, but she had wanted to make herself helpful, so she started doing them for him not long after he took her in. It had been a bit rough at the start, but she eventually got the hang of it and was able to make it as painless as possible.

"Jinx" he said softly, breaking the quiet that had formed as he contemplated his duties and different Shimmer sales that were currently underway. "Yes?" she asked to show that she was in fact listening even if she was messing with a gadget. "I have an injection I need you to give to me" he said quietly. Jinx was a bit confused at this, since he would never actually ask her to give him his eye injections.

"Can't you do it yourself?" she countered. "Isn't that what you do when I'm not here?"

Silco chuckled, amused at her clear confusion. "Not that one, child" he replied, gesturing to his eye. She rolled over to look down on him. "What other injections do you have?" she cocked her head, growing ever curious at what he was talking about. He motioned for her to come down, so she jumped down onto his desk. A few papers flew away as she impacted with the furniture, but he paid it no mind.

"Do you remember how I told you I wasn't born in a man's body?" he asked patiently. It had been years since he had explained it to her, and it never really came up, so it took her a moment to remember but she eventually nodded. "Yes, well..." He reached under his desk and pulled out a small vial of clear liquid, a bottle of vodka, a rag, an old-looking syringe, and two needles. "I have to take injections for that, otherwise I would look and sound a bit closer to you, and..." he shuddered. "That never felt nice"

Jinx nodded in understanding, eyeing the needles and the bottle. "I have no idea what this stuff is" she admitted after a moment. She understood how to do his eye needle, but this was so many items she had never even been aware of prior to this interaction. Silco smiled and nodded. "Do not worry, child" he said gently. "I will prepare the needles and whatnot, I just need you to give me the injection in my arm"

It was only then that Jinx fully processed how his outfit was a bit different on this day. He was still wearing his vest, but his long sleeved shirt was replaced by a tank top of the same, dark red material, leaving his slender arms exposed to the world. She only saw him in this outfit every few weeks, but she'd never thought to ask why. It now made sense to her.

"Normally, I would have Sevika or another one of my workers do this for me" he explained as he cleaned the tip of the vial with the rag and vodka, put the larger needle on the syringe, and slowly pulled out liquid to the line he had marked out. "But, alas they all seem to be busy" he shrugged. Jinx then watched as he flicked the syringe a few times, replaced the needle with a smaller one, and then rubbed the vodka into the underside of the arm he had closest to her. He then picked up a marker and placed a dot on his arm.

"All I need you to do is put the needle there and slowly push in the syringe, okay?" he asked, to which she nodded. Her hands were shaking slightly, afraid to mess up, but it seemed straight forward enough. Silco smiled as she lifted the needle and shakily brought it closer to his arm without actually putting it in. "Be sure to put it all the way into my arm"

Jinx took a deep breath and injected.

As she slowly pushed in the liquid, she heard Silco taking sharper breaths due to some pain he was experiencing. "Oh god, did I hurt you?" she asked, finishing the injection and roughly pulling it out. She never wanted to hurt anybody (at least not her loved ones), so the thought of her hurting him due to her inexperience deeply scared her. "I don't wanna- I didn't- Couldn't have. Did I hurt you!?"

Silco exhaled and pressed his hand into the injection site to stem any bleeding. "You did not hurt me, Jinx" he assured, taking his free hand and gently holding hers the way he would whenever she was particularly panicked. He hated physical touch, but he bore it for her sake since she seemed to find comfort in it. "It would've hurt if anyone did it" he elaborated as she squeezed his hand tightly.

"I just don't want to hurt you" she said, avoiding his gaze. "You performed the injection and it didn't go awry" he stated. "That's all I could've asked of you"

Jinx gave a shaky exhale. "Shut up" she mumbled to a voice in her head before removing her hand from Silco's. Her panicked expression completely gazed over to that of apathy. "Take the day off" Silco finally said after a moment. "I- I- I don't need a day off" Jinx objected. "I- I can still be useful"

"You are plenty useful, child" Silco assured her as she fidgeted with her boots to calm herself down. "I just think you should take the day off" he repeated. "Take it as a reward for doing my injection well on your first try, yes? Sevika still occasionally makes a mistake even after all these years, so it's truly an accomplishment of yours, and I am proud of you"

Jinx smiled at those words. Silco was rarely this loving in the words he chose. He still cared about her of course, but compliments were just something he was never really generous with. But, if it would soothe her nerves, he would tell her little things like that. Allow his true care towards her to surface a little bit to make sure she knew that he loved her. "Ah" she laughed, scrubbing away a few tears that had come to her eyes in her brief spiral. "I- I'm glad I was able to be helpful"

"Of course" Silco smiled. "Now, go work on your gadgetry. I have to get back to my papers"
