A/N : Autistic!Bigby because I said so. Takes place post-game
More and more people had been stopping by the office since everything went down with the Crooked Man. Some wanted answers about what all had happened. Others were demanding change within the community, which Snow assured was underway. It was a lot.
Midway into one particularly loud day, Snow realized that she hadn't seen the sheriff in a little while, so she put Bufkin on desk duty and went to find him.
She looked around for quite a bit before finally deciding to check the far corner of the library. It was where a bunch of Star Wars knockoffs had ended up, so no one ever really went back there, meaning it was very quiet. It had sort of evolved into a comfort spot for the pair- Bigby would go there when he got too angry or overwhelmed and Snow would go there when she was feeling particularly depressed.
Sure enough, when she rounded the corner, she found Bigby curled up on the floor with his hands clamped over his ears.
His eyes were yellow and he was in one of his partially transformed states, though still close enough to his human form to be recognizable. Snow sighed, because it must've been pretty bad if it brought out this side of him. Anyone else probably would've been afraid if they found him like this, but she stepped forward without fear. She knew him well enough to know she wasn't in any danger.
He looked up at her with a panicked expression on his face, and Snow had to refrain from suffocating him in a hug. Just because she had seen it before didn't mean it was easy. She really cared about the guy, so to see him so overwhelmed always kinda hurt.
She slowly knelt down in front of him with a gentle expression before opening her purse and looking through it. Bigby couldn't help but stare curiously as she did this. Eventually, she pulled out two items : Noise cancelling headphones and a small, plush wolf.
Bigby slowly pulled his hands away from his ears and put on the headphones, sighing in relief as all the distant chatter disappeared. He felt a little silly as he took the plush and ran his fingers through the fluff, but he appreciated it all the same since it helped him calm down a bit.
He looked back up at Snow with a grateful expression. He was having trouble speaking at that moment, but Snow understood and simply nodded before sitting next to him, allowing him to lean against her. Eventually, the sheriff had calmed down enough to where he took off the headphones (though he was still stroking the plush).
"Feeling better?" Snow asked him quietly. Bigby just nodded in response, as he was still having a bit of trouble with speech. "Sorry that today was so overwhelming for you"
"Not your fault" Bigby managed to respond. Snow smiled and gave him a small kiss on the top of the head. It was only then that she noticed he had reverted fully back to his human form.
"Do you wanna go back to your apartment?" she asked him gently. "I can find someone to cover for us for the rest of the day. The office will only be open for a few more hours anyway, so it's not like I'd have to pay them a whole lot"
"Could we?" Bigby asked hopefully, clinging onto his girlfriend a little bit more, earning a small chuckle from her.
                              "Of course"
