Abby finally saw land in the distance, which was enough to ease Lev's nerves.

They had been in that tiny boat for almost a full day after leaving Ellie alone in the water. Lev couldn't even feel bad for the woman. After all, they all would've gotten out of that situation relatively unscathed if she hadn't decided to start a fight with Abby. But, no. Instead, she decided the best course of action would be to blackmail the dirty blonde into fighting by threatening to murder the thirteen (almost fourteen) year old boy. The result?

Abby got stabbed in the shoulder and Ellie got her fingers bitten off. Go figure.

The pair got to land and cautiously exited their boat. They were both far too exhausted for an encounter with the infected (or "demons", as Lev called them), so they had to listen closely for any clicks or groans. Luckily for them, the only noise around was the faint whistle of wind rustling through the nearby trees.

Lev seemed relieved and maybe even excited, but Abby was more stressed than anything. Everything she'd been bottling up since the Rattlers captured them was finally beginning to crash down on her, and there was no zombie or attacker around to distract her from it.

"We... W- We..." she muttered out as she crumpled to the sand. Lev frowned. This wasn't the first time he'd seen her scared or upset, but it still worried him every time. Abby was the strongest person he knew (that was still alive, at least), so seeing her so panicked was always a tiny bit unnerving. Nonetheless, he calmly sat next to her and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Hey" he said gently, the same way he had spoken to her on the bridge all that time ago. As stressful as that whole situation had been for both of them, it ended up being a blessing in disguise, as Lev now better knew how to help her when she was distressed. "We're on land now" he continued soothingly. "We're safe"

"She would've fucking killed- FUCK!" she shouted in response, digging her fingers into her legs. This was very decidedly a bad situation, and she couldn't focus for long enough to even attempt to calm herself down. Thankfully, she wasn't alone, and Lev sat strong next to her, patient as ever. It honestly kind of amazed her, how much patience the boy had, though she supposed it made sense considering his upbringing.

"She didn't though. We're safe" Lev assured her. She just shot him a panicked glance in response. "Your body is reacting to all of the stress we've endured recently, which is good because it means your body knows how to prepare itself for a fight, but it's not helping you right now" he explained. "I'm gonna try to help you calm down, okay?" A nod. "Good. Follow my breathing, okay?"

After a few minutes of controlled breathing, Abby was able to calm down enough to where the only remnant of panic was a slight shakiness in her body language. "Thank you, Lev" she said quietly. "For, um..."

"Of course" Lev replied as a small and kind smile graced his features. "We've both been through a lot. Your stress is understandable"

"Are you okay?"

"...For the moment, yes"
