A/N : Takes place in book 3 during chapter 16 while Percy, Thalia, and Zoë walked to Annabeth's dad's house
Percy, Thalia, and Zoë found themselves walking around San Francisco, making their way towards the address of Professor Chase- Annabeth's dad. They weren't even entirely sure they were going to the right place or that he could even help them (Annabeth hadn't painted the kindest picture of him in Percy's mind), but they had no other ideas and needed a car, so they walked towards his place.
Zoë walked in front of the two half-bloods, partially because she wasn't incredibly fond of either one of them and partially because she was admittedly the wisest and therefore could probably get them there the quickest. Thalia and Percy walked a few feet behind her, side by side though not really saying anything to each other.
"You were crying back there" Percy finally muttered after a while of walking and ignoring the ever present burn throughout his body from the constant travel. Thalia shot him an annoyed glance but didn't say anything. "When we were fighting the Manticore" he elaborated uncomfortably. "I saw you, with like..." He drew a finger from his eye down his cheek. "Are you alright?"
"It just reminded me of something" Thalia replied, her voice ever so slightly shaky. "It doesn't matter" She waved a hand dismissively as if to prove that she was unbothered by it when, in reality, it was still on her mind. "Your initial trip into Camp Half Blood?" Percy asked, though he already knew the answer was probably yes. Thalia went quiet and avoided his gaze, confirming this theory.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" the younger demigod asked cautiously, not wanting to get yelled at. Thalia just shrugged. "I fought to save everyone, and I did" she replied, still not looking at him. "I died and I came back. Happens all the time in the old stories. Not a big deal"
"But it is a big deal" Percy replied, slightly exasperated at how calmly she was talking about this horrible thing that had happened to her. Thalia tensed slightly, and Percy could tell that she was putting forth a lot of effort to not cry. "Can you just... Forget it, Percy?" she asked, her voice shaking as she looked the other way completely. "Please, let's just- Just find her dad and get on with it, yeah?"
Percy frowned before cautiously reaching out his hand with a small "Okay", to which Thalia took his hand in her own before abruptly pulling it into a hug. Zoë stopped walking and glanced back to the two demigods. She said nothing, realizing that nagging them about time wouldn't do any good. Besides, she had heard their conversation. She understood that Thalia just needed a moment.
"Sorry" Thalia muttered as she pulled away from the younger boy, brushing away a few tears that had escaped her and looking back to the Hunter. "Let's go find Professor Chase, yeah?"
"Actually..." Zoë smiled and gestured towards the building they were in front of. "We're here"
