Nothing Lasts Forever (Part 2)

Rachel's POV

Damien :Rachel please wake up. Please.

I can see lights above me. Moving lights. Where am I? I hear Damien's voice. He's asking me to wake up. I'm too tired to wake up. I feel a pain all over my body. I can hear people talking. I open slightly my eyes and i can see that I am lying on a moving bed. Something is hanging next to me. Something that ends up on a needle in my hand. I look at Damien who is looking now front and then again darkness.

Few hours ago

Damien's POV
I see Rachel on the kitchen door. I'm lying on the floor. She is holding a knife.

Rachel:Hey Lucien!

Lucien looks at her. She puts the knife on her palm and cuts it. Lucien's eyes turn again red with veins. He runs towards her and bites her neck. I try to get up to help her but when I do, they both fall on the ground.

Lucien:What did you do to me?

Rachel is laying on the floor. She's not moving. Lucien is next to her. His skin turns grey. Freya who had now woken up grabs Rachel and drags her away from Lucien. Lucien's body is now on fire. Freya brings the antidote (thank God she had some). I look at Rachel.

Freya:Damien! You have to take her to the hospital. For some reason she's not healing.

I put my hands around her waist and legs and pick her up. I look at her beautiful face. Her lips are purple, her eyes open like she's dead.

I arrive at the hospital.

Damien:Help! Someone help!

A nurse appears

Nurse:What happened?

I think of it for a second. I can't tell her a vampire bit her.

Damien:Animal attack.

Nurse: Put her on this bed. We'll take her in an emergency room. Dr McCall will be there in any minute.

Present
Melissa (Scott's mom) :Damien, what happened?

Since there was no one else in the room I told her the truth.

Damien: A vampire bit her. She lost most of her blood. She's not healing.

Melissa:Ok, now you have to get out. We have work to do.

I step out of the room while Melissa calls some nurses to help her. I sit in the waiting room anxious. After a while I see Rachel's family walking in.

Katnice :Is she ok?

Rebekah :Where is she?

Damien:They're trying to do their best.

Klaus laughs.

Rebekah:What is so funny?

Klaus :Rachel is a brilliant girl.

He keeps laughing.

Klaus :She has all the powers combined. That makes her blood addictive. When she cut her palm, Lucien was drawn by her blood and that's how he bit her. Brilliant.

Rachel's P.O.V
I'm in a cold place. A snowy place. I look around and I can see nothing. Only snow. Suddenly I feel electricity penetrating my body. I fall down. I look up again and I see a figure. It's Hope.

Hope:Hello Rachel.

Rachel:Hope? Where am I?

Hope:You are on the middle phase. You're dead and not dead at the same time. But you have to wake up.

Voice:Clear!

Here's the electricity again.

Rachel:What is happening?

Hope :They're trying to bring you back.

Voice:Should we announce time of death?

Voice :No! We're not giving up on her.Clear!

Hope: Try to wake up Rachel. Put your whole strength on that. Remember the time you defeated the dark you? Do the same thing. Defeat your weak side. You can be strong. I know it.

I shut my eyes and Hope disappears. I can hear again these voices.

Voice :We have stable pulse.

Melissa:Oh thank God. You'll be ok sweetheart.

Damien's POV
We are still in the waiting room. I look at Rachel's family. I've never seen them like that before. Her parents sit and talk anxiously. Freya is trying to hide her tears unlike Davina who is sitting next to Kol holding his hands. Elijah and Klaus are at the reception desk trying to get as more information as possible. Rebekah and Keeilin are walking in rounds in the hallway while Marcel is checking his watch all the time.

Finally Melissa walks out of Rachel's room. I try to recognize the feelings behind her face but can't.

Katnice :Is she OK?

Melissa:Look, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that her pulse is stable and she can breeth on her own. The bad news is that she has fallen into some kind of coma and we don't know when she's going to wake up.

Freya:Well she's alive. That's what matters right?

We all look at each other not knowing how to respond. We seem desperate and tired.

Damien:Can I see her?

Melissa nods and I walk into her room. I see her there, on the hospital bed. She looks peaceful and happy. I wonder if she really feels that way. But she also looks quiet. Rachel was never quiet. She was energetic and always happy. I put my hand on her head. I try to hold my tears but can't. A tear drops from my cheek on her hair. I kiss her on her forehead and leave the room.
