What Is This Place?

Rachel's POV
I wake up in a dark place. It looks like a cage. But I'm not sure. I try to remember how I got in here but I remember nothing. I don't even remember who I am. What's my name? The cage starts going up. I see a wall on the top and I get scared. I cover my head and shut my eyes. Suddenly the cage stops. I can hear whispers . I pretend to have fainted so I can know better what is up there. The cage opens and even if my eyes are closed, I can feel the light from the sun on my eyes. I hear voices.

Voice:Who is that?

Voice:What's going on?

I hear a noise, like someone jumped in the cage.

Voice:It's a girl.

Voice:Why would they send a girl?

Voice:She doesn't seem like she's waking up soon so let's get her out of there. Jack, bring the stretcher.

After a while, someone grabs me, gets me out of the cage and places me on a stretcher. I can feel their shadow over me, looking at me.

Voice:Let's move her.

Voice:But first tie her up on the stretcher.

They grab some ropes ready to tie me but I suddenly open my eyes and punch one of them on the face. He falls down and I take his sword from his belt. I get up und threaten everyone with my sword. They look at me. They are all boys. This place has no girls?

Voice:Hey hey hey relax. We won't hurt you. I'm Alby. I'm the chief of this place. We can protect you if you let us.

The sword I'm holding is still pointed to them. I take a few steps back and look at the place behind the boys. It's beautiful. I notice it's surrounded from big wall and in the walls are some things like doors. That's my way out. I take again a few steps back but this time I also turn to my right slowly still looking at them. I look at the opening in the wall. I turn around and run there fast. I can feel the air on my hair and my eyes. The adrenaline. I can hear them shouting.

Voice:No! Stop!

Voice :Don't go in there!

I feel that they are left behind and I can see that I'm close to escaping. I look at the sun which is almost going down but suddenly someone tiptoes me on the ground. I look at the opening. Wind comes out of there and the walls start slowly closing. I get up fast still holding the knife. I see the rest of the boys running towards me and the boy who threw me on the ground. I grab the boy and put the knife on his neck.

Rachel:Take one more step and he dies.

Voice :Guy's, she's crazy, she's gonna kill me.

Said the boy who I was holding.

Alby:Let him go. If you kill him, the consequences will be great.

Rachel:What is this place?

Alby:It's called the glade. We live here. Some of us live here for years and some others for months. You live here for a day.

Voice:Yeah, and you already broke one rule, and you almost broke another one.

I look at a boy standing next to the other boys curious.

Rachel:Rule?

Alby:Yes. But you didn't break any of them.

Voice :But..

Again the boy who spoke before.

Alby:Gally stop. The rules here are simple. First, we do our own job. We don't get well with lazy people. Secondly, we don't attack any other gladers and thirdly, we don't get past these walls.

He says that and he points at the walls behind me.

Alby:So let go of him before you do something you'll regret.

Rachel :How do you know that if I kill him, I'll regret it? You don't know me! I don't know me! I just woke up in a place full of boys and I know nothing!

I feel dizzy and suddenly everything becomes blurry. I let go of the boy so I can stand on my own feet and clear my eyes. But nothing.

Alby:You ok?

I look at them for a last time, before I faint.
