Laurent stood up, smiling as he watched Evan approach him at the lounge chairs where he, Larry and the Sosa sisters had been sitting and waiting to be seated for dinner while enjoying their complimentary beverages.
Larry looked on as the two men exchanged bro-hug handshakes and briefly embraced. Sofia and Maria also curiously looked on at Laurent and the, so far, unknown man greet each other.
Evan chuckled. "I thought that was you." Evan gave Laurent an appreciative once over. "And don't you look nice. Is that jacket one of—"
"Hello, Evan." Larry, who Evan hadn't yet seemed to notice, continued to silently sit, watching...and listening to the exchange between Laurent and Evan, particularly the compliment from Evan on Laurent's nice appearance. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but to Larry, the casually-made compliment seemed anything but casual coming from Evan. He didn't just imagine the subtle show of desire that flickered in Evan's eyes as he looked at Laurent.
Evan snapped his eyes towards the direction of his name being called.
Larry stood up, forcing a smile as he took position next to Laurent.
"Oh, Rick? Hi!" Evan extended a hand to Larry, returning Larry's smile as he did so. "I'm so sorry. I didn't see you sitting there. How are you? It's so good to see you again."
Sofia and Maria, who'd remained sitting, continued silently looking on as they finished their drinks, exchanging curious looks with slightly furrowed brows. "Rick?" Maria whispered to her sister, with Sofia lightly shrugging in response.
"Good to see you too, Evan," Larry said. He took the hand offered him, giving it a brief shake. "I've been good. Thank you. And um, it's...Nick."
"Excuse me?"
Larry chuckled. "You called me, Rick. It's...Nick."
Laurent chuckled under his breath, disguising it as a small cough. My bunny, he thought to himself with pride.
Evan gasped slightly. "Did I? Oh. I'm so sorry. Nick," Evan clarified. "Yes, of course."
Larry smiled, moving closer to Laurent, who went about introducing the rest of their party. "Evan, this is Sofia, and her sister Maria. They're good friends of ours, visiting from Florida."
Both ladies then stood up, politely smiling as they joined Laurent and Larry, and the now identified, Evan.
"Hello, ladies." Evan gently shook each their hands. "Nice to meet you." Sofia and Maria returned the greeting,
"Are you here alone?" Laurent asked Evan.
"Uh, no, I'm here with my husband." Evan started looking towards the front entrance of the restaurant. "He's here somewhere."
Laurent's eyes followed Evan's.
"He went up to inquire with the hostess about our reservation," Evan explained.
At that moment, a handsome, well-dressed man approached them. "Sorry, hon," he said, shrugging, speaking to Evan. It was at that moment when the man noticed the two men and the two older women standing next to his husband. "Hello," the man said, looking at each of them.
"Marcus, hon, this is Laurent and his friends, Nick, Sofia, and Maria. Laurent's one of my customers from the store."
"Oh." Marcus turned to address Laurent and Party. He smiled, extending a hand to Laurent, Larry and the Sosa sisters. "Nice to meet you all," he said, smiling.
