In another section of the temporary jail, Malek was undergoing similar reactions as Evan to the state in which he now found himself. Except, unlike Evan, Malek's emotions were leaning more towards confusion and anger. He was still mad and in sad disbelief that his longtime, ride or die friend, Evan, actually ratted them both out.

Malek placed the bulk of his blame squarely at Evan's feet, as so far, neither was aware that it was actually Zeke and Frank who ratted them out first. Both were still unaware of the amount of evidence stacked against them, so to Malek, Evan was what was standing between freedom and a possible jail sentence. It was Evan of all people who blurted out to Larry and some older friend guy of him and Frenchie, actually admitting damn near all of it, his and Evan's own guilt. How could he have done such a thing.

Malek let out an angry, frustrated groan, pacing slightly, looking around him at the sterile, eight by ten holding cell meant for two, given the double bunk beds. To Malek, the space was barely big enough for one person, let alone two. He'd seen bathrooms bigger than this. He blew out a rough breath as he dragged himself over to sit on the edge of the lower bunk. He'd been there barely twenty minutes and he already felt claustrophobic. He had to get out of there, he determined. He couldn't stay here. He couldn't help going back to the detectives who kept alluding to evidence. "Humpf, what evidence?" Malek mumbled, chuckling to himself, without humor. "Most likely a bluff to get he and Evan to admit everything. There probably wasn't any evidence."

"And to hell with what Zeke and Frank said. The cops probably offered them something to blame he and Evan. Besides, Zeke and Frank are criminals. Who's gonna believe them, Malek thought. It was their word against he and Evan's. He'd work on Evan, get him on the same page as him. All Evan had to do was retract his comments, admitting to the abduction. People lie all the time. How could the cops or even Zeke and Frank prove otherwise? It was all their word against his and Evan's.

But regardless, Malek was still angry at his friend for putting them in this position. All Evan had to do was keep quiet. But Malek, unaware and for now, unconcerned whether or not Evan had placed his phone call, he didn't want to see Evan right now, or speak to him. He'd let his friend stew for a while.

But Malek didn't know that Evan had already called Marcus, nor of Evan's concern to include him in his efforts to get them both bailed out of where they were. Malek placed his own phone call, but his call was to Mike or Kevin, whichever one was available to help get him bailed out, and he didn't intend to include Evan.

A/N: Remember Mike and Kevin, the married couple from Evan's dinner party. Both are very successful, influential men individually and as a couple in their community. They knew a lot of equally influential people in the Washington, DC Metro area, some of whom were not part of their swinger lifestyle.

Malek was able to touch base with Mike. Knowing his phone call would be brief, without telling Mike everything, he only told him that he was in jail...for what he described to Mike as a...misunderstanding. He asked, or more like begged if he or Kevin could come down, bail him out, and suggest to him an attorney. Interestingly enough, unlike with Evan, true to his intent, Malek made no mention of Evan. Malek was still fuming mad.
